"Huh?" Josiah didn't really understand. He was young and still got most of his moral lessons from TV superheroes.

[Raven]

"Your sister would be hurt if they hurt you. So it's two for two, and kids are worth more. You can't do anything else, Josiah."

[Gifted]

"Oh..." Josiah still felt awful. "But... they said they're going to expect me to do it again... and now I've already shown I will..."

[Raven]

"It doesn't matter, Josiah. They'll just hurt you more if you don't. We're fine in here."

[Gifted]

"I...I guess." Josiah said, but he still wasn't totally appeased. He fell quiet, and didn't dare raise his voice again.

[Raven]

Ben sighed, and laid back down. He wasn't sure what was going to happen.

Starting From the Worst

Usually gifteds try to stay away from the government. But what happens if the government made them as weapon? Before they even start, these gifteds are already in the government's hands. Sometimes, though, even the government does the right thing. A threat has arisen that the government can't face alone, and these new gifteds are their only hope to defeating it.

The Gifted project. It was damn stupid they were doing this bullshit all over again. And why the hell was he supposed to manage it again? If it weren't for her reappearance...
At least they'd thought to triple-check the background checks this time. Xander Xavier was heading down to the lab now, his one good eye staring down at the files clutched in his hands of the five new subjects he was to manage. His eye narrowed as he read. What were they thinking, letting a kid with that kind of attitude in? Maybe the background checks weren't as thorough as he'd been led to believe. Moronic fucking suits. Was the st attempt so easily forgotten up there? "Nikola." He grunted as he entered the first lab. "How is he?"

[Raven]

"Much better now he's anaesthetized," the woman in her early thirties answered, glancing at Xander. He had been working with this project much longer than she had, and she had never known him before the fall of his first team. Having met a gruff man with an eyepatch, it was no wonder she was more intimidated by him than was strictly justified. Despite her fear of the man, however, her answer hadn't actually been referring to how the young man was handling the process. "It's going very smoothly. He should be fine."

Aaric was still awake, but only barely. For the first time since he'd gotten there, he seemed to have finally stopped with his attitude, since too much of his energy was being devoted to not passing out.

"Good. And the others? Are they on standby?" Xander asked, not softening his tone. Xander didn't do 'soft'.

[Raven]

"Yes. Katiyana is next. She'll be prepped while I'm finishing with Aaric here," Nikka answered, stopping herself at that. She tended to ramble too much around Xander as she tried to hide the fact that he made her nervous.

[Gifted]

"Alright. Inform me when you're done." Xander ordered, and went back up to the main control room. If that Aaric kid caused any kind of trouble, Xander was going to kill him, higher-ups be damned. He wasn't letting this team end up the same way as the last one. Never again.

[Raven]

The process went even more smoothly than Nikola had predicted, considering it was her first attempt. Afterwards, Aaric was moved to another room where he could sleep while Nikka decided to contact Xander before she started on Katiyana. "Aaric's procedure went by smoothly," she reported, moving towards the room where Katiyana would be waiting.

"He made it out fine? No unusual fluctuations in power level?" Xander asked.

Katiyana Arendelle sat perfectly composed in the room were she was to wait, her curly red hair pulled back into a ponytail. If they were to be fighting powerful individuals then it wouldn't do to have her hair a loose target to be grabbed onto. Really she ought to cut it. But until she was willing to commit to that, a ponytail ought to do. She smiled at the scientist as she walked in. "Are we ready to get started, then?"

[Raven]

"No problems whatsoever. He has yet to wake, but that isn't surprising. I have one of the others monitoring him," Nikola answered Xander. "I'm about to start Miss Arendelle's, unless you have anything else to ask."
