"We don't have much of a choice, unless you have an idea now. I'm sorry, Xander, but I don't have a set of plans ready to break into the government building with."

"I know Ben believe me.... I'm just scared." Xander admitted. "She's fighting for her life in there just as surely as we are."

Ben patted his back, not sure what else to say.

Xander's mood lasted the rest of the evening. It took him a long time for him to get to sleep that ght, and when he finally did, his mind filled not with the sounds of battle, as was standard of his nightmares, but Sharie's begging and pleading screams as they preformed tests and tortured her in a sterile, white room. Unable to defend her, forced to watch as she was unable to defend herself, in his dream Xander began to cry. He'd do anything to save her from that fate. Anything.
He woke up early again, but it wasn't as dramatic as last time. He simply opened his eyes and lay there quietly for a long time.

Ben was up again - apparently the man was, in fact, a morning person. He didn't notice for a while that Xander was up. "I think today I should probably go get some help for my leg," Ben said.

"There's a higher likely we won't be bothered if we go now. Not all, but Most of the agents seem to have a normal working schedule." Xander said quietly, sitting up.

"Really? I hadn't noticed," Ben said. "Let's go, then." Ben had already cleaned up a bit of the camp, but he hadn't done much since his leg ached so badly.

Xander did most of the work, not wanting Ben to get his leg infected or anything. Infected injuries were terrifying out here. After he'd done all of the cleaning he could, he set off towards town keeping a slower pace so Ben could keep up and hoping they didn't run into one of the few teams of agents that roamed in the early morning hours.

"Thanks for everything, Xander," Ben said. "Seems like I've got in the way more than anything."

"No not at all." Xander shook his head. "I really am glad you came. 'Sides, that botanist would've killed me if you weren't there to help me out."

"I'm really glad I got the chance to help you out," Ben said, smiling at him.

"It's been great having someone to talk to again, as well. I'm glad I ran into you. Thank you."

"Of course, Xander." He grinned. The sun was well in the sky by the time they got to Katrina's and Ben knocked on the door. There was a very long moment when no one answered, and then finally Katrina did. "What happened?" she whispered, standing aside to let them in as she glanced at Xander.

"Bad fight. He came in swiftly, not wanting to be see on her doorstep. "We both nearly got killed or captured. As it is, I'm fine, but Ben can barely walk from the bullet in his leg."

Katrina nodded hesitantly and pointed at the couch. Ben limped over. He hadn't expected more. "When was it?" she asked, edging closer.
