FML: Ben
It was a bright and sunny day. Isobel and had gone out to get some food for the three of them. "We'll be back in a few hours! Bye, Ben!" She waved happily as they exited the cabin, leaving Ben behind. It was quiet and peaceful.

Ben started his daily workout, figuring if he got it done while Isobel was out, he could spend more time with her later. He started with push-ups.

Ben was doing push ups when a bright green, vibrant light appeared out of nowhere in front of him, like Isobel's power but much stronger. It drew a jagged line like a crack in the air in front of Ben, easily twice the size he was.

Ben was on his feet in seconds and took a step back, but he watched the crack with interest.

The crack in the air began to spread wider open. If he squinted past the bright light, Ben could see a house on the edge of a little town. It looked nicely kept but seldom used, and the dust on the porch was so thick the last person there left footprints. There was a package on the porch.

Frowning, Ben stepped forward to see what was going on. It was so unbelievable that his mind simply accepted it as fact, like a dream. He wondered if he was supposed to take the package. He stepped through the crack.

As Ben stepped through, he appeared on the other side, in front of the house. If he turned around, he'd see the cabin he came from through the crack, but around it he could see the other side of the street. After a moment, the crack glowed brighter, then went out, taking the vision of home with it.

Ben didn't look back. He stepped forward to inspect the package that sat there. Clearly someone had been there recently enough.

The package had familiar writing on it, though it was shaky and it wasn't immediately obvious who'd written it. Ben, I will be home in three hours. Take these and do not go out in public without them. If you remain here I will come home and explain anything
I hope to god the right one of you finds this and it worked.

Ben blinked in confusion. The right one of us? Who is the other person who might find this? And what worked? It was addressed to him, though, so he tore the package open.

Inside was a wig ((idc what colour, you decide)), contacts, false facial hair, and a new set of clothes that were two sizes too large.

Ben frowned. "Haha." He thought it must be some kind of joke and turned to go back through the crack to his living room only to find that the crack wasn't there. Ben pinched himself, hard, and of course he didn't wake up. Scowling, Ben gathered up the contents of the package and went inside, stepping on the last person's footprints so it wasn't completely obvious he'd gone inside. Three hours, sure, but there was no saying when that person had put that stuff there. It could have been nearly three hours ago. Or just three minutes ago. He figured he may as well wait to see if anyone came back.

The house looked like no one lived inside. It was comfortably furnished, but every surface was dusty and other than that totally perfect. Nothing was out of place. The tv remotes lay neatly on the coffee table in perfectly straight lines, the dishes were all clean and put neatly away, and the whole thing just gave off the feel of a home that had never been lived in. There was only one odd thing. There were several picture frames all throughout the house, on the walls and side tables, but they were all empty... all but one. A large circular picture frame on the living room wall was the only frame with a picture in it. The picture was 2 or 3 years old, taken at their family house. Ben, Ben's now-sober and extremely-repentant father, and Adam all sat around Isobel in a sort of family portrait. Everyone was smiling, but their happiness was nothing compared to Isobels, who positively glowed, delighted to have all the people she loved by her side. Her arms were wrapped around Ben and Adam.

Ben scowled at it, trying to remember if there had ever been a photo taken like that that someone might have found. He couldn't think of a single instance. Even if it had, why would that be the only picture in the house. It didn't make any sense. "What the hell is going on...?"
