"It was his idea. I didn't want to risk going towards town and running into other agent, anyway. This way we're up earlier than them and there's less of a chance they'll be out here."

Katrina glanced away and went to get her things before coming back and starting to work on removing the bullet. She had do to that before anything else.

Xander nodded and did so quietly. He remembered wishing he could speak to her again, but now that he was here he couldn't find the right words to say. It wasn't something Xander would want to say with Ben around anyway.

"You're going to start bleeding again," Katrina said in her normal quiet tone once Ben claimed his leg was numb enough. "Come to the bathroom." She helped him in that direction as well as she could without actually letting him touch her at all. Once they got there, Katrina had Ben sit down on the toilet seat and pulled some tools out of the bathroom drawer beneath a false bottom. She hesitated before she started working to remove the bullet. Ben tensed. "You're making yourself bleed more, and it will be more painful. Relax, idiot," Katrina snapped. It was not a tone Xander had heard before. Ben forced himself to relax, and shortly after the bullet got dropped into a bag and Katrina turned the water on to clean her things, and she started to sing, quietly again.

Xnader got up. "Katrina?" He asked quietly after a moment. He had to say something.

Katrina came out of the bathroom, her voice falling silent. "Yes...?" she asked.

"I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done for us." Xander said quietly. "It means a lot to us both to know there is someone we can turn to when we have to, when we need help. It's nice to know we haven't been forsaken by someone." He smiled.
