The wolf limply allowed Vickas to pick it up. Its silvery fur came off its skin with a touch. It looked up pleadingly at Vickas with silvery-blue eyes, black where they should be white. The wolf shuddered, and closed its eyes. Jay bit his lip, and stood, arms crossed.

Elder Noah turned around when he heard them coming. Coran growled at their approach, and calmed down when the elder pet him.
"So," yawned Elder Noah, "did you bring me anything?" He wrinkled his nose, and nodded. "Yes, you brought me something..."

Elder Noah nodded, nose still wrinkled. His dire wolf Coran looked just as unnerved as Vickas' dog. "Thank you," he said, "Lay the wolf down--gently, mind you, I said gently--and I'll take a look." The elder paused. "Well, you know what I mean."

Elder Noah smiled. "That's all," he replied, shaking his head, "Just one more animal, if you will. Now, to tend to this poor fellow..." He bent down next to the wolf. "You can go now, if you want."
Jay stayed silent.
