"Sure, but you don't have to be a total nerd." Gri didn't speak up.
"There she is!" Opal squealed in excitement. "Yup, that's her alright." Tang sounded much less excited.

"You didn't have to spend two hours doing your makeup," Albion retorted.
Nisha glanced at Tang, raising an eyebrow.

"Only lame nerds sit at the front, Albion." Fuchsia snapped.
"What?" Tang asked.

"Welcome to the nerd club," Albion said.
Scarlet came to stand directly in front of Albion and cleared her throat. Albion turned red and wisely shut up. Nisha shook her head, not wanting to be the kid who talked in class.

Fuchsia shut up as well.
Tang shrugged and returned her attention to the front of the class.

Scarlet waited for a painfully long moment before speaking. "Once class begins, anyone talking will receive an automatic detention. Three of those, and you will not be welcomed back into my class," she said, her voice loud enough that the class could hear without any problems. She walked back to her place at the front. "You're not children any longer, you're huntsmen and huntresses in the making. If you want to make that a reality, it depends upon your graduation here. If that isn't what you want, you can leave now." Scarlet paused, as though waiting for someone in the class to declare they were just doing it for sh*ts and giggles and leave the classroom, looking around at each one of the students.
"The classes here are meant to train you so that you can succeed in the real world. So that you can survive. In order to do that, you must pay attention to the content within them. My class is no more important than Professor Zise's history class, though I assure you that I will be your strictest teacher while you are here at Beacon. This is your first class in the morning. Let me make one thing abundantly clear: I don't care. The door will be locked at precisely eight. I don't have late students. I have students, and the school has failures. Since you have me first thing in the morning, you cannot possibly use having to stay late in another class as an excuse. You clearly all found your way here, which means the only excuse for tardiness would be laziness. I will not tolerate this.
"If this seems unfair to you, I don't care. It's not my job to be fair. I assure you this will not be the last time you think this of me, but those of you who complete my course won't die in your first year as huntsmen. Any questions?"
No one spoke up, so she moved on. "Teams GRAF and TOXN, choose a member of your team to come forward for a demonstration." Xanthene looked at the others. "Do one of you guys want to go?"

"No way man, count me out." Tang responded. "I mean, I can if you don't want too..." Opal answered.
Fuchsia didn't hesitate or ask the others. She got up with a smirk immediately.

"Nah, it's fine," Xanthene said, heading up, clicking her guns' barrels into place.
Albion sighed.

"Fuchsia." Gri said, but Fuchsia ignored her and went down to the front. Gri pressed her hand to her temple and said nothing, but she looked exasperated.
"Good luck Xanthene!" Opal gave her a thumbs up.

"I hope she gets her ass kicked," Albion muttered.
"Thanks," Xanthene said, smiling. She faced Fuchsia.
Scarlet moved to the side of the stage where the two would face off. "Ground rules. You cannot leave the stage area. This will be a clean fight. The first whose aura enters the red zone loses. I may make comments throughout the fight, do not let these distract you. Are you both ready?"

"Yes ma'am." Fuchsia nodded, flipping up the sights for the gun on her weapon.

"Yes," Xanthene said, readjusting her grip.
"Begin." Xanthene immediately fired off a shot from each of her pistols, dodging to the side and trying to close the gap between her and her opponent.

Fuchsia managed to dodge the bullets, but by then Xanthene was already quite close. She pulled out a bomb, but by that point Xanthene was too close to throw it at her and Fuchsia was forced to back off. She glancedd over at her team and a minute later, she had changed into a perfect copy of Gri. "This ought to keep some distance." She placed a wall between herself and Xanthene, clinging to the top by her fingertips. The bottom of the gauntlet spat out another bomb and it rolled over the wall, hit the ground on Xanthene's side, and detonated.

Xathene was thrown a short distance, and narrowed her eyes. "Two can play at that game." She fired a blast of energy at the wall Fuschia had erected. There was one key difference between Fuchsia's bombs and Xanthene's energy blasts, though: Xanthene's wouldn't hurt herself.

Fuchsia only barely held onto the wall, the whole thing shaking. "Dammit." She pulled herself on top and tried to fire shots from above Xanthene.
