Albion nodded. Roux turned towards Gri, looking highly confused, and asked for help on a couple of the questions. She was relieved she didn't have to ask Scarlet.

Gri was extremely patient in trying to explain it, although she still seemed to keep Roux at arms length emotionally through the whole thing. But she had no problem helping Roux through the logic.

It wasn't long before the bell rang and the lot of them headed off for the next class.

It was two or three classes in when they entered the lecture hall of the unimposing purple teacher in glasses sitting behind a desk. They all filed in the rows and Zise waited quietly for everyone to sit down before dimming the lights and raising them again to catch the student's attention. "Good afternoon class. Now, I know quite a few of you think history is a pointless class for a huntsmen. Well, I'm here to tell you that no, History isn't going to teach you to punch better, or block faster. But history is far from pointless. 'Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it' a wise man once said. Example; Tell me, who here believes themselves to be 'good' at history?" He looked around the class for someone to put up their hand.

Nisha slid down in her chair but raised her hand as she realized no one else was going to.

Zise noticed the girl with her hand up. "Yes, you! I have a question for you. The police ask you to go afte some criminal hiding out in a building by themselves. They won't tell you anything about the person, but you manage to find out that the person is a fanus. Would it be a smart decision to wait until nightfall to ambush them?"

"Of course not," nisha responded. She thought everyone knew that.

"They can see in the dark better than we can," Nisha responded. "It would give them a distinct advantage."

"Correct! Night vision is not something you would want to trifle with. And where did you learn that?"

"Well, books, I guess. They used it to their advantage during the Faunus Rights Revolution," nisha said, her voice getting quieter. It was a fairly recent war, and she was aware it could be sensitive

"Precisely. The battle that was the turning point of the revolution was lost because General Lagune wasn't as smart as this young lady over here, and stupidly tried to do exactly that." He asked another student a similar question about another historical event, who also answered correctly. "Precisely. And if either of these young ladies are ever placed into a similar situation, they would know not to make the same mistakes! History for a huntsman is a strategy guide. Historical people make mistakes so you don't have to. That's not the only reason I teach history. History is remarkable in its ability to help understand the world around you. Each and every one of us is a collection of our experiences, and our reaction to those experiences. Gather the experiences of a small collective and you begin to understand them. Apply that on a grand scale and you have a glimpse into the nature of humans themselves. Now, you might wonder why I spend the beginning of my first class justifying what I teach. It's because I have no patience for those students who refuse to participate in class. I will not hear complaints that my subject is dull, boring or useless. I am here to help you succeed in this class. I will always be available if you need help. But I cannot help someone who won't try. I hope you will take my words to heart, and we will have a very successful year together." He picked up a sheet. "I will start by taking roll the first few classes, for as long as it takes me to learn your names. After that I won't be bothering with it."

Zise shrugged. "People who skip my class are hurting no one but themselves. I'll see my the end of the first test who is taking this class seriously. As I said, I cannot help someone who refuses to try."

That made sense to xanthene and she nodded, readjusting to the way the Academy was run. As opposed to her prior school, and more vastly, to her parents, this place let her hold her own responsibility. She would be able to choose things for herself more now, rather than being coerced into doing things. She was here because she wanted to be, and only the best would graduate. It made sense people weren't going to push her when there were others who would happily push themselves. She fell quiet to let Zise take roll.
