Persecuted and Over-Powered

[Gifted]

The agent ignored him.
"What the hell are we going to do? We can't get locked up!" Stephanie hissed fearfully.

[Raven]

Kailen shook his head. "I don't know," he whispered back. Without his power, there wasn't much he could do. How could he have gotten caught so quickly?

[Gifted]

Stephanie sighed. "I'm sorry, this is all my fault. My dad'd kill me if he saw that I was taken in so quickly." She hung her head, ashamed.

[Raven]

"It's not your fault. I'm the one who got handcuffed first," Kailen said, shaking his head.

[Gifted]

"I'm not talking arrested, I'm talking lied to. I should've seen what the guy was doing instantly."

[Raven]

"You're a lie detector, then?" Kailen asked.

[Gifted]

"I'm my father's child. I'm my aunt's niece. What do you think?" Stephanie sighed, looking down in shame. "I just suck at the family business. Always have."

[Raven]

"Right," Kailen muttered. "Well, most people don't consider being good at being the spymaster for an evil dictator a good thing, you know."

[Gifted]

"Yeah, well if it helps us." She muttered sullenly. "There is one thing I'm supposed to be good at. One thing. And I can't even do that right."

[Raven]

"Well, just help me figure out what to do," Kailen said.

[Gifted]

"I don't know, I'm sorry, I-"
The car swerved suddenly and entered an underground parking garage. “We've arrived." The agent informed them. He parked the car and he and two other agents pulled Stephanie and Kailen from the vehicle.
They were taken down the halls of an office building, but as they got deeper into the heart of the facility Kailen and Stephanie saw things that were distinctly not offices. In plexiglass cells behind power containment fields gifteds sat, peering out. Cell after cell after cell, with three or four to a room clearly built for one. Stephanie and Kailen were marched to a near empty cell and shoved inside. No one bothered to remove the handcuffs.

[Raven]

Kailen had seen some truly awful things in the last couple years, but despite all that, he felt slightly sick at the scene around him. Despite everything, he could always go back and try again. Now, he was stuck in a way he hadn't ever been before. He pulled against the handcuffs - to no avail of course. "We have to figure something out," he said once the others had left.

[Raven]

The other gifted already there was a small woman, with long brown hair that looked like it could really use a wash. Her hands were clasped behind her, correctly giving the impression that they were also still cuffed. She wore a t-shirt and loose pants that looked like they would be easy to run in. Not that it had helped her in the end. "Are you two okay?" She asked, concerned about them despite the fact that she was caked in blood that appeared to have come from her forearm or her cheek, both of which were still bleeding. That was simply the kind of woman Katrina was. She put everyone else before herself.

[Gifted]

Stephanie hadn't realized they were not alone in the cell until the small woman spoke. "No, we're-" Her eyes widened as she turned around and saw the sweet-sounding woman caked in blood. "Oh my god, what're you asking us for? Are you alright? Has that been looked at?"

[Raven]

Kailen turned around and his eyebrows raised, just as worried as Stephanie.
Katrina shook her head. "I'll be okay," she promised. "It looks worse than it is, they're bleeding slowly."
