Persecuted and Over-Powered

[Raven]

"Yeah, we are," Kailen said. "Where did they go?" He knelt down next to the man.

[Gifted]

"I ran. Left them behind but... I can't go any farther." He groaned in pain again. "Please... talk to me or something. What're your powers?"
"Um, I can do air..." Stephanie answered. She wished she could help him. "Is theresomething we could bandage that with or something?"
"I got nothing on me..."

[Raven]

"I can manipulate time," Kailen said. "Is there somewhere we could take you?"

[Gifted]

"No... I don't have anywhere, the nearest safehouse's in - augh!" He twitched and cried out in pain.

[Raven]

Kailen grimaced. "In where? We have to get you help," he insisted.

[Gifted]

"Far... too far. Too too far. It's-" There was a sudden beeping, quite quiet but clearly audible. "Hang on." The man said as though something had just occurred to him. "You said you were a time traveller?"

[Raven]

"Yes," Kailen confirmed. "What's that noise?"

[Gifted]

"Noise isn't important." He adjusted how he was sitting, moving his hand a bit. "I just need to-" All pain suddenly vanished from his voice. "-make sure you can't escape."
In a flash the man was on his feet and had handcuffs out in his hand. It was barely a second before he got the one cuff around Kailens wrist. In his other hand he pulled a gun and pointed it at Kailens hand. "Not a twitch, lady, or your buddy gets a bullet in his skull." Stephanie froze. "That's a power inhibitor he's not time-travelling you out of this one."

Stephanie was confused when he felt the need to mention that. Weren't all handcuffs built with power inhibitors? She knew better than to move with a gun pointed at her only friends head.
"You just have to do it all yourself, don't you." A voice said from behind them. "That's another two on your tally, Agent Henderson." Several agents in suits came out of the trees.
"Yeah you need it if you're gonna keep the number one spot." One of the agents, who looked around twenty five and just arrived quipped. "Wenkeling is catching up."
"If you kids paid half as much attention to your jobs as you did to the rankings your ranking might actually move." The man who'd caught them replied.
"Easy for you to say, you're number one!"
"How come you get all the gullible ones?" The girl pouted as she cuffed Stephanie.

[Raven]

Kailen closed his eyes and swore under his breath. This was not good. Who were these people? He thought he'd gone to before the emperor came to power. Were these people from the system before? Kailen hadn't expected this to be as bad as it was. "Look, please, we're trying to help. I'm from the future, and unless you let me go, something terrible is going to happen."

[Gifted]

"Sure, kid. Walk." The man finished cuffing Kailen and marched him to two black cars. He made Stephanie and Kailen get in the back of one. Stephanie looked pale.
"I'd really hoped the textbooks exaggerated." She whispered.

[Raven]

Kailen glanced at her and nodded. "Really, we're from twenty-five years in the future and the government falls unless we stop it."

[Gifted]

"Well, it's a new excuse, I'll give you that." The man who'd caught them muttered. "You'll both be taken back to the office, a blood sample will be drawn and you'll be placed in a holding cell to await further tests. We don't have very many time travellers, I'm sure the eggheads would love to get a look at you."

[Raven]

"I'm not making it up!" Kailen snapped.

[Gifted]

"Please be quiet. I'm getting to old to listen to you gifteds shouting. Hearing's going already."

[Raven]

"Please just listen to me," Kailen begged one last time.
