"We have time, and I'm here," Kenny said. "I'll need Ryan's help, but money isn't a challenge for the Clarks."

"If you can get us more money, then we ought to have been working on this awhile ago." Roseanne said, critically. "I'll grab Ryan for you if you need him. How quickly will you get it?"

"I had other things to be doing while we were at war, Rosanna," Kenny said. "It depends on how long it takes to get the things I need. A few days at least."

"A war we're losing, in case you hadn't noticed. There isn't anything you could be doing that would be more valuable at this point." She snapped, admittedly a little nkindly. They could have hired mercenaries to fight with them, gotten more trustworthy spies or bribe people or so many other potential uses she could get out of an ample supply of money.... how could he be so short-sighted as to not see that?

"At this point, it's what I'm doing," Kenny said. "But it doesn't matter, we can't change the past."

"No, we can't. But we sure can learn from it." Roseanne answered coldly. She turned and walked off. That was utterly disgraceful. She'd thought Kenny was supposed to be smart but naive. If he couldn't see how much money could have helped them weeks ago, how was he going to be good enough to get them through a revolution with the deck stacked against them? Maybe her mother was right after all... she had just turned down Dragon's Keep.

In the following days, Kenny and Ryan went about preparing. Though Ryan had never been taught alchemy, Kenny figured his half brother had the most right to know, and he needed help. Three days later, they still hadn't finished, and the temperature was steadily dropping. It had gotten very cold when a storm approached. "My lady, I suggest you get inside and get warm. It looks that this storm is only going to get worse," one of the higher ranking soldiers said over the wind that had picked up in a matter of minutes.

Roseanne had become more and more upset over the few days as Kenny disappeared to make the potion and things deteriorated - but no faster than they might have with him there. Still, he could at least check in. He couldn't need to be with the potion all day, could he? She'd bundled up against the cold as best as she could, but the wind had caught her off guard. "Thank you for your concern, Captain. Unfortunately, at least one of the leaders needs to be out here to attend to things." She had a slight bitter edge to her voice.

"This storm may well have everyone inside before long," he informed her.

Roseanne sighed and nodded. "Alright, I'll return to my quarters, then." She agreed, smiling. "Thank you for your concern."

The man nodded. "I'll make sure that any urgent news reaches you there, when it can."

"Thank you. I'll eagerly await the passing of the storm." She walked back to her tent with her dragon by her side.

The storm grew steadily worse, and kept everyone inside throughout the night. It wasn't until late the next morning that it relented enough to let them outdoors again, and even then, it was still snowing.

To Roseanne, she felt like this was some sort of sign. The three days of inactivity hadn't improved her outlook any, especially as her supposed co-partner in this, kenny, hadn't even bothered to check up on her. Hemlock was restless in the freezing weather and wasn't super keen on going out in the snow, but Roseanne knew she had an image as kind and altruistic to maintain. That meant that the moment she could leave her tent, she had to check if everyone important made it through okay, and ask the Captains about the rest of the troops. She decided it was probably best to check on Kenny first, and made her way toward where she had last heard he was supposed to be working on the potion.

Kenny had managed to find an abandoned home that he'd set about making the potion inside. It provided the best shelter, and normally, Kenny would have left it to the sick and injured, but the conditions he needed simply weren't fit for a tent in the dead of winter. There was smoke steadily rising from the chimney still, as it had been day and, presumably, night for several days.
