"You met Jacob? I don't like him. Damn boy's unkillable. Fortunately one good hit gets rid of him for awhile." Rakel glared out the foilage.
It was indeed Jacob. He was walking along, guns in hand, whistling cheerfully as if he hadn't a care in the world. He didn't appear to be trcking anyone, or even notice they were there.

Rakel took aim and fired a compressed ball of flame at him.
Jacob was caught completely off guard. He gave a cry of shock and pain as it connected with his side and flickered like a bad TV before being reduced to static and dispersed into nothing with a look of pain on his face.
"Didn't even know what hit him." Rakel grinned. "Let's keep moving."

"No, not really." Rakel kept walking for a bit before something else happened.
"Black rose." Xander stepped from the trees with a scowl on his face. He was definitely older, with a bandage over his eye and a sword at his belt. "Why'd you give her your mask?"
"Apparently it doesn't help when I wear it. Xander, I need you to check her for powers. We may have found it."
Xander raised his eyebrowns in surprise and looked over at you. He frowned for a moment, confused. Then he looked back at Rakel. "I see nothing. She reads as normal."

That didn't really surprise me. After all, it was just memories I was relying on. "The Black Rose is supposed to happen. It's probably the most common way you'll find her, and everything about the Black Rose points rather obviously to Rakel, mask included. Since it's not a power that we have, there aren't actually limiters on the fact that we have to see your face. Your power usually makes it pretty obvious as well, and there are some other things that would be like yep that's you, like if someone told me 'eye patch and a sword' I would immediately think Xander Xavier." I grinned. This was so thrilling, I was getting to meet all of these characters, and I'd somehow been prophesized about.

Xander nodded. "Well that certainly puts a new spin on the last year." He said, annoyed. "Have you checked?"
"No, didn't have the time, I was texting you." Rakel replied. There were quiet cracking sounds coming from behind you, but it was harder to hear over Xander and Rakel talking.
"I'm going out for awhile. See if I can't find one of gods men to fight."
"Maybe it'll be Kenny." Rakel smirked.
"Doubt it, guy's Gods favourite, he never seems to be out here."

"Only when we're directly fighting God's people. I mean, if a bunch of people suddenly vanished at the same time some masked rebels showed up, it'd be pretty obvious who the masked rebels are." Rakel pointed out. "Oh, by the way, Raven?"

Vines that had been growing quietly behind them wrapped around Raven's mouth and throat, choking her. Two more were tightly constricting her arms, trying to stop her from fighting back. Azalynn cried out in alarm and stepped back, looking ready to rescue her fight with Rakel, and Danielle's body slumped to the ground but the vines stopped for only a moment before Xander drew his sword and cut Danielles body, forcing her spirit to return to it.

A scream rose up in my throat, but the constriction quickly quieted it. The quick exhale of air didn't help my case, and I was very rapidly starting to feel lightheaded. I lashed out, trying to kick her or loosen the vines or something. My vision went black, with white outlines around shapes. Even if I did kick her, it probably wouldn't hurt much. I felt slow, and I could tell I was going to pass out. Were they going to kill me?
