Holy Wars

[Gifted]

"Ha, no. But she does. Not Red. But there's a boy named Kenny in her ranks. Early twenties. Fights with a sword. Xander's been itching to take him on." Rakel replied. "But no, we don't have a Kenny or a Red. Why, should we?"
"How do you know all these people?" Danielle asked with a laugh. "I thought you were new around here."
"Hey, yeah!." Rakel frowned at her.

[Raven]

I stared at her wide eyed. I was wrong about the kind of people this God was killing. "No, no you shouldn't. They should be avoided at all costs, if you want to live your own life." Was it possible Kenny was controlling her? But Kenny never used a sword. Knives, sure, but not swords. "Danielle, I've told you three times. It's a power of mine. I want to help you. And word to the wise, if you get a chance, kill Kenny. His power is dangerous, and his personality is more so."

"Oh, ok."
"But that's my point." Danielle said "Gosh, this is the first time I've actually laughed in..." She shook her head. "So Black Rose. Let me get this straight. All we know about the devil is that they'll come down like God did, they won't know they're the devil and they'll be on equal footing with God, yes?"
"Right."
"And we know God has the ability to tell you anything about a person by looking at them. Their past and, it's rumoured their future too. That's what you said, yeah?"
"Yes! It's why I wear a mask. So she won't know who I am."
"Have you considered the possibility that the devil from the prophecy is standing in front of you?" Danielle giggled.

[Raven]

I giggled when Rakel said why she wore the mask, but Danielle wasn't through. "Wait what?" If I was the devil, did that make Gifted God? I shook my head. She hadn't been gone ten years, there was no way it was her. Still, it made sense...

[Gifted]

"Her?" Rakel asked skeptically.
"It's my power. I know things" She quoted. "That's what Raven said when she mentioned something about me she wasn't supposed to know. As soon as you mentioned this Xander fellow she knew exactly who you were talking about, and she asked about this Ben's sister, and she asked if they were on the same 'timeline'. Well first off, time isn't a line, it's a ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff, but second how would she know they share a history to begin with? How would she know you would know they shared a history? She must know their history. Oh, and she said your name was Rakel Meusemore. I didn't even know your name, and I know a lot more than most people. And she knew Azalynn wasn't Anita immediately while you couldn't tell. So that's knows histories, can tell who you are by looking at you, and never met someone she doesn't know. Fits all the same parameters as God's power, no? Really the only thing we don't know is if it shows up on a scan."

[Raven]

I blinked and spoke to Rakel. "If the God and I do know the same things, you wearing a mask is going to do the opposite of confuse her. I could tell from the balcony it was you. The plants crushing buildings thing makes it really obvious, plus your nickname, and your hair. Even the mask itself. It helps figure out the exact point in your life you're at." I pushed my glasses up, as I often did out of habit more than anything.

[Gifted]

"Oh shit, really? Fuck." Rakel took it off. "That's irritating. Anyway, I'll take you guys back and we'll check with Xander. If he can't see a power from you, then your friend is definitely right." Rakel replied. "Maybe you ought to wear it. If you're right about that then she'll know it's mine so she'll know you've found me, but she won't know anything about you, since after all it's mine. That's why she wears that mask with the gold eyes, you know. To protect her face from you."

[Raven]

Did God know I was the devil, and would recognize her? It just made no sense for it to be anyone other than Gifted, but it couldn't be her! I took the mask delicately and smiled. "Thank you, Rakel. Thank you very much." I looked at the mask and grinned, putting it on. This was so exciting, and the villains had always been my thing. I guessed with these girls, it just depended on which side you were on. And, well, I'd pick Rakel over Kenny any day.

[Gifted]

"Anyway, follow me." Rakel led her out of town and through the forest, texting as she went.

[Raven]

"Hey, Danielle, do you by any chance watch doctor who?" I asked as we walked.

[Gifted]

"Whenever I have the chance." Danielle grinned. "Oh but don't tell me what happens, I'm behind, I just met eleven and Amy Pond."

[Raven]

I grinned. "Well, when time travel isn't involved, time is significantly more line-y. Maybe I should call it a strand." I frowned thoughtfully.

[Gifted]

"Well I wouldn't say it is like a line right now, or if it is, it's all tangled, what with the whole multiple versions of people, places that shouldn't be there being there thing." Danielle replied.
"Stop." Rakel threw out an arm. "Do you hear that?"
A ways behind them, they could hear someone whistling.

[Raven]

I nodded and stopped talking. "What is it?" I whispered. I didn't know of a character who used whistling to communicate. Was it maybe just for amusement?

[Gifted]

"There's only one person in God's ranks childish enough to be whistling as he walked. So either it's harmless, or it's her assassin. Stay behind me." She crept toward the whistler, crouching hidden in the foliage.
