Xander nodded to the last boy. "Xander Xavier. I'm the one in charge of you lot. Let's save the talk for when you're done."

Ryan didn't look so sure he wanted to do that, but he didn't object or pull his arm away when Nikola injected the anesthetic into his system. He sat back and watched Xander, almost looking as though he was trying to look into the man's soul. Nikka waited the standard couple of minutes and then prepared the machinery. Ryan was still watching Xander, though he seemed a little groggier, he was completely unaware that the anesthetic was supposed to have nearly completely knocked him out. After growing up with his father, and then in foster homes or on his own, it was no wonder Ryan required more of the drugs for them to effect him. Nikola laid his seat back with a pedal without really noticing Ryan at all. She didn't even seem to realize Xander was still there. Once the machine was whirring and clearly ready to start, she came over and strapped down Ryan's arms. She was so focused on what she was doing, she still didn't take note of Ryan's level of consciousness. Ryan was forced to mostly watch the ceiling. In this position, he could almost fall asleep... His eyes started to close, then Nikka brought in the arms of the machine and locked them onto his arms. Ryan's eyes went wide open as twenty needles all at once pierced his skin. Even with the anesthetic, it wasn't a pleasant feeling. It didn't hurt, exactly, but it felt strange for sure. A prickling feeling, like his arms falling asleep started, and it slowly spread all through his body. His knuckles clenched to try to give him something else to focus on.

Xander watched quietly, and couldn't help but think that must be fucking uncomfortable for Ryan. "Nikola, you realize he's still awake, right?"

[Raven]

Nikola glanced at Ryan. "So he is. I'm surprised he's so quiet. We can't do anything now, though." She turned to continue what she was doing, going to monitor the machine, then shortly after injected the boy's upper arm with the contents of another syringe. Ryan didn't make a peep, even though it was clearly becoming painful. "It seems to actually be going much better than I expected. I wonder if having them awake is more effective," she commented, even as she pushed a few buttons on her monitor. Moments later, the machine disconnected from Ryan's arms and Ryan lay back. Little pricks of blood showed up on his arms where all the needles had pushed through, but they didn't bleed much. Nikola moved the mechanics away and quickly checked Ryan's condition. "This has never been done before. How are you feeling?"

Ryan's voice was soft when he spoke. "Like shit." His hands were still balled into fists, but they weren't squeezed the way they had been. He simply hadn't put forth the effort to open them yet.

"Well that's hardly surprising." Xander rolled his eyes. "If the anesthetic had worked like it was supposed to you wouldn't have had to for that. Still, long as it worked. You don't see any abnormalities thus far then, Nikola?"

[Raven]

"It seems to have gone even better than average," Nikola answered, returning to the monitor.

Ryan sat up, holding a hand to his head. "I'll be fine soon enough."

"The others'll probably be awake by now. Let's go meet the rest of your team."

[Raven]

"Got it." Ryan struggled to his feet, finally unclenching his hands. "Lead the way."
"I'll work on getting everything cleaned up. Should I tell the cooks that you'll be eating soon?" Nikola asked.

"Might as well." Xander replied, and started heading stairs, figuring that's where the others would go when they awoke in their respective rooms. If not, he'd go down and get them.

Zoey had in fact done exactly as he'd predicted. Waking up in an unfamiliar room, the first thing she'd done was test her power, making a shield large enough for a person to hide behind. She walked around it and marveled at the new, impossible ability she'd been given. But there was nothing she could really test it on in here, and besides she wanted to see the place. This would be her new home, after all! Excited, she leaped to her feet and opened the door, wandering in fascination until she got to a set of stairs. It was much brighter up there. Maybe she'd even see other people.. the halls had been surprisingly empty up to this point. She wet up the stairs and let herself into a huge control room, with dozens of people on computers. One of the women looked up when she came up. "Just wait ma'am, the others will be up shortly." So Zoey leaned against a railing and waited until Xander and Ryan came up the stairs. Her face lit up in a smile when she saw the two, but she was a little intimidated by the older mans scarred, scowling demeanor and the eyepatch that spoke of hard battle. She'd thought they were all supposedly younger than her...?

Ryan thought that the girl who was there waiting was somewhat out of place, so was she one of his team? "Hey," he greeted, figuring he may as well. His voice was still a little rough, so he cleared it. He didn't notice that his hands were shaking on the long walk up there, but he did notice how wobbly his knees were.

Kailen waited in his room for a while before deciding to fuck the rules and explore regardless of whether he was supposed to or not. He put his ear buds back in and started exploring.

Aaric, however, was right behind Ryan and Xander. He walked like a soldier, standing straight with his hands clasped behind his back.

"Hey! Nice to meet you!" She said with a grin. This one seemed nice enough. She nodded to the other two. "And both of you as well."

Xander did a double take, not realizing they'd been followed. When he saw Aaric behind him, he smirked. Kid was going places. "I'm Xander Xavier. I'm in charge of managing you lot. Give me a minue while I go get the other two sorry sacks who aren't as adventurous as you three." He headed back down the stairs.

Ryan glanced at Aaric and immediately noticed that he didn't particularly like him. "So you were asleep while...?" he asked, mostly of Zoey.

He almost ran right into Kailen, but the boy moved around him without even looking up. He glanced up in surprise. Had he just heard that guy? He was listening to music, how did that even work? Besides, he didn't really remember hearing him, just sort of knowing there was something there. He pulled out his ear buds quickly. "Sorry," he said.

"The other three are up there." Xander jerked his thumb over his shoulder at the stairs. "I'll be up with the last one."

"You weren't?" Zoey asked, raising her eyebrows.

[Raven]

Ryan shook his head. "She didn't use enough of the anesthetic..."

Kailen nodded and hurried quickly past him and up the stairs, pausing his music. That was weird. He slowed down once he was out of sight of Xander, coming into hearing range just in time to hear Ryan say 'anesthetic'.

"What happened? I was asleep, so I didn't get to see." Zoey asked, seized by curiosity.
