[Raven]

Younger Ben tried to leap out of the way. He managed to avoid the cable wrapping around him, but the tip struck his arm.

[Gifted]

At the point where it struck his arm, the circuit was momentarily closed and young Ben also got shocked. Older Ben, trying to keep his head, reached down and pulled the cable off his arm, gasping in relief when the electric current was finally no longer going through his body. He left the other Bens cord on the ground in front of him.
"So, Wekeling... Where'd you find this schlub?" Ben demanded with an attempt at bravado as he tried to catch his breath. "A time machine?"

[Raven]

Ben flinched and drew back, pulling his cable back to himself. The light faded from his eyes and he took a deep breath. "Not exactly."

[Gifted]

Ben laughed. "Well pretty dang close, huh? But I think you may have overlooked something kind of important."
"And what's that?" Joan asked, eyes narrowed.
"Now, I'm not going to tell you that, am I? It would ruin the fun, ruin the game. Well, all's well that ends well, but for now I must be off. I look forward to fighting you two again." Ben smirked and jumped up and grabbed the gutter of a building, pulling himself onto a roof. Joan tried to knock him off with telekinesis, but he stopped that by wrapping his coil around a drain pipe. He hopped off the roof and was lost from view.
"...Well that was weird." Joan frowned

[Raven]

"I shocked him longer, and I'm nearly exhausted," Ben said, laying down on the concrete. "Have any idea what he meant?"

[Gifted]

"No..." Joan shook her head. "...But that was odd... it's like he wasn't even trying until after you got him with that cord."

[Raven]

"What do you mean he wasn't even trying?" Ben demanded.

[Gifted]

"I mean, up until the point you actually pulled out the cord and did some serious damage he didn't seem as though he was trying at all! That... wasn't like our battles normally go at all. He was stationary most of the time, he didn't ever once try to press an advantage... it's like he didn't actually care if he won or not. And he bailed a lot earlier than he normally does too..." Joan hook her head. "Whatever. Come on, let's find a place to stay for the night. We can head back home tomorrow if nothing happens."

[Raven]

"Maybe he was surprised I was fighting back," Ben suggested, shrugging. "But I agree, let's go..."

[Gifted]

"Even if you hadn't I would've, though..." Joan sighed. "Of course it could have just been to screw with my head in which case I'm giving him exactly what he wants..." She headed up further into town.
The few civilians who'd seen the battle from barricaded shop windows were emerging. Most looked relieved, but some seemed confused. Joan actually laughed as they walked, seeing the puzzled looks on peoples faces.

[Raven]

"No, I mean fight his electricity," Ben mumbled, then, "How much do you think they saw?"

[Gifted]

"Judging by the looks on their faces? Everything." Joan replied.

[Raven]

"Well, that secret didn't last long." He made sure no part of his cable could be seen anymore.

[Gifted]

"I think they're not quite sure what to make of you." Joan said with a smirk. "I'd keep the disguise though, just so people don't get the two of you confused."

[Raven]

Ben nodded. "Yeah, probably for the best," he agreed, looking around at the civilians.
