The dog watched the two curiously, and whimpered when Vickas stopped paying attention to him. He laid down, and looked up at Vicaks sadly.
"I am truly sorry for interrupting your intimate moment, but our leader would like to talk to you."
Jay was standing in front of the two, arms crossed impatiently. His two longswords were strapped to his waist in their scabbards, and he was fully armored in leather.

I turned slightly pink and pulled away slightly scratching the dog's head and spoke to Violet," I guess we better go?"

"Wasn't intimate," I muttered, standing up. "Where can we find him?"

Jay nodded, as if saying 'sure, it wasn't intimate.' "Northern border of the camp," he replied, pointing in that direction, "He's the only one there, so you'll know him when you see him."

I looked to Violet then spoke," Do you want to grab your stuff first? Or do you just want to head out the way you are?" I reached into my bag looking for some food to give to the dog.

"Will you go get my stuff? I don't know that we'll be coming back this way," I told him. I wanted to talk to Jay, but I wasn't sure exactly what to say.

I nodded and scratched the dog's head and gave it the rest of the meat in my bag. I headed over to our tent and retrieved Violet's stuff for her and slowly headed back.

The dog happily ate the rest of Vickas' meat, making sure to position himself so that Violet nor Jay could get at his food. Jay stared at his feet, not sure of what to say either.

"You don't strike me as one to be shy. What's wrong?" I asked.

Jay looked up. "I am fine," he said, "Just, distrustful of your human companion..."

I smiled. "Why don't you trust him?" I asked.

"He is a human," responded Jay, "He may not be from Teak, but no human I have ever met cared one bit about the forest." He scoffed, and glanced at Vickas. "He looks to be no different."

"So long as he doesn't harm the forest, whatever his motive, he's trustworthy. He never promised to like these trees," I told Jay. "As little as I like it, humans just... don't have the connection with the Earth we do."

Jay nodded, deciding not to voice his (racist) opinions.
"Hurry, human," he called to Vickas, "Our leader does not like to be kept waiting." He added quietly, "Especially for humans."

Ignoring his comments I came over and handed Violet her stuff he looked to Jay and spoke," Sorry for the wait," and scratched the canine's head and then spoke to Violet," Shall we be off?"
