I shifted slightly trying not to make any noise, I thought of an alibi as to why I was here in case she asked.

The dog flinched when Violet reached towards him, but calmed down when she pet him. He walked over to Vickas, and sat at his feet, looking up at him with a "I found her, can I have a treat?" expression.

My eyes followed the dog and it took me a moment to register that he was sitting at someone's feet. I slowly followed his form up to his face. "Oh," I half said, half gasped. "Vickas."

The dog enjoyed Vickas scratching him. He wished he could understand what they were saying.
