Massacre 22 vs 22 Raven & Gifted

Kitty nodded, but she wasn't sure how to test it. "My power is healing," she looked up at the group, as if expecting them all to break their arms immediately.

Lynn hadn't noticed the fridge, honestly, she slunk over next to them and spoke with a soft voice. "I'm hungry."

Tyler knew no one was going to injure themselves for her. "Should I try it on someone else?"

"Eat anything you like," Nicholas said kindly. "It'll all go bad in two weeks anyway."

Kitty nodded, looking ashamed. A voice sounded in Tyler's mind. Me? Kenny pulled his daughter closer, trying to look inconspicuous, but Gabby was watching the enhancer.

Lynn nodded. "Thank you," she whispered.

[Gifted]

He looked over to Gabby. He noted Kenny holding her close to him, and decided he ought to be polite. "If your friend agrees to it," He nodded at Kenny. He was probably a father, but he could also be a brother or an uncle and Tyler didn't want to risk offending. "Then I don't see a problem."

"You okay?" Xander asked as a way of making conversation with the kid. He was probably nervous.
Nicholas shrugged.

After a long silent moment, kenny said, "it wont hurt her?"

"I'm very nervous," Gabriel answered. Obviously it was honest. "And scared."

[Gifted]

"Not in the slightest." Tyler said. It was the truth... for now.

"I know what you mean." Xander nodded. "This is a little more intense than fighting agents back home." Xander smiled wryly. "Still... hopefully we're prepared."

[Raven]

"Even if we are, what if those people were our family and friends? Even though they aren't, how can we just kill them?" Gabriel asked.

Gabby reached out her hand. He does not object.

"I know how you feel kid... I'm not sure I can kill anyone either. Thoughthe paragraph at the begginning seemed to indicate switching sides was allowed... so we might be able to get a few of the other team to switch to our side so there are less people dying... I dunno." Xander shrugged.

Tyler smiled and took her hand gently before letting it go. "There."

Lynn took a jug of milk and grabbed a box of cereal all without touching anyone, even with nicholas standing right in front of the fridge.

Gabby looked at the kitchen and managed to make a carton of berries land in her lap. She smiled with satisfaction. I couldnt do that before.

Gabriel looked up at Xander. "So how do you do it?" He asked quietly.

Tyler smiled. "Then there you go. It should last about tweny minutes."

"I'm trying not to think about it, kid... I fight often, it's an everyday thing for me, but I always make sure not to kill anyone." Xander replied.

[Raven]

Gabby nodded. Thank you. She started eating the berries. Kenny smiled.
"Well anyone want to volunteer to help me demonstrate my power?" Ryan asked with a grin.

Gabriel nodded. "I'm not good at anything," he told Xander. "I'll just weigh everyone down in a fight."

Xander grinned. "First off, no you won't. Even a little hand-to-hand combat training, or learning a little on how to use a knife could be of enourmous help on the battlefield. After all, you can't be the only person with a non-combative power. Think about it. What is the point, from the governments perspective, to throw us in here and make us fight? If they wanted to get us out of the way, they could've just killed us when they caught us, or locked us in cells to do tests on, or something. They do it to other gifteds all the time, so why not us?"

"What is it?" Maverick asked.

[Raven]

"Because they're cruel?" Gabriel guessed.

"I'm a shape shifter," Ryan replied vaguely.

Xander shook his head. "Evil is not done for strictly evils sake. The person doing it always expects to get something out of it. Now, it's true it could be possible this is all some psychological expiriment in which case everything I'm about to say doesn't apply, but I think it's more likely ths is one or both of two scenarios.
The first is for entertainment. Most people dobn't consider us gifteds human, remember, at least not the same sort of human they are. With that in mind, there's the possibility we're all being filmed. It'd be no different to the masses than, say.... watching a gritty superhero movie where everyone dies. Or a TV show, as with so much going on every day for two weks they could probably stretch the footage out over two months if they wanted to. And think about how much money a hypothetical grittyy superhero movie makes. They're little TV show would make at least that much, which is money they can put towards other things, the national debt or whatever.
The second is to minimize the number of gifteds out there. They could be lying to us saying they'll let us out if we win, they could not, either way however many gifteds die here are ones who are never going to escape. They're permanantly out of the picture. Less gifteds means less for them to worry about.
So, this means the government wins if we put on a good show. The government also wins if the body count is high. Sure, they're guaranteed like twenty of us dead anyway, but ther best case scenario in their eyes would be to end it with both sides severely decimated, the last few survivors just barely hanging on and managed to catch victory in their hands at the last moments. Coincidentally, that's also the way they'd get the best story out of us.
How are they going to get either of those things if one team is hugely overpowered while the other's just trying to keep up? No, they'll get those things by setting up the most even fight possible. If there's someone on this side who has a power that's completely useless in a fight over here, then they'll have one on that side as well. This is going to come down to who bands togwether as a team, whose combos of fighters work the best and who has the most intelligent leader."

"Then why do you need help to demonstrate it?" Maverick asked.

[Raven]

Gabriel nodded. "But if it's the second one, why didn't they just kill us when they had us knocked out?" he questioned. "Unless it's just to be cruel."

"Because I have to drink blood to do it."
