Neil had to laugh at that. "You were playing dead?" he asked, chuckling.

"I didn't want to make the situation worse by giving them another person to manipulate." Darren insisted. "I told you when they got here that ruby could read minds!" Amy pointed out. "I was freaking out and I forgot, ok?"

"Well, unfortunately that means I'm going to have to open the stitches up again," Neil said.

"Ugh. Ok. Just do it." Datren frowned, tensing in anticipation of the pain.

"Yeah, thanks." He nodded. Amy's injuries were less severe, but she'd still taken a couple hits. "Thank you guys, for helping my family. I appreciate it." Abigail stayed back and kept her mouth shut.

Amy nodded. "I'm officially employed at Rochester Radio as an investigative journalist now, so we might still cross paths. Especially if you guys intend on stirring up drama trying to save that kid."

Amy laughed. "Yeah, reporting on the good stuff is... not that much safer of a business, these days. So I guess I'll see you guys around."

"Good luck, Amy," Maggie said. Adam was back downstairs by that point. "Ayane, right? Are you okay?" Neil asked.
