Magicka Corrupted

[Raven]

"In what ways?" Raven asked, interested.

[Gifted]

"There's not a lot of trees - well, in Afghanistan there are still places that weren't much touched by people with huge forests, but I mean most other places - but it's fields of grass, bushes, low plants."
"What, like after a fire?" Natalia asked.
"If you'd like." Amy said. "It's quite a hot country. Although I do tend to go in the summer, I suppose."

[Raven]

"After a fire there would still be burned tree husks," Raven objected.

[Gifted]

Amy just shrugged. "That's just what it looks like."
"Um, you guys realize we just lost our way back home?" Natalia said anxiously, realizing the portal was gone.

[Raven]

"Yes," Raven said. "We'll have to find the source of the magic."
"What?" Ryan glanced around, clearly looking for the portal.

[Gifted]

Amy went pale. She didn't want to be stuck in a strange land with no supplies and no way back. "Oh crap." She frowned. "We need to find some kind of civilization. This isn't the kind of place we're going to find food just growing...."

[Raven]

"That's a good idea," Ryan agreed.
"Let's find high ground," Raven said

[Gifted]

"Those cliffs up there might have some kind of shelter if we don't immediately find any signs of life." Amy agreed, and started heading towards them. Then she frowned. "Speaking of signs of life..." She glanced around.

[Raven]

"What?" Raven asked, confused.

[Gifted]

Amy looked around. "You'd think there'd be some, is all." She said. "Depending on the biosphere we're in, should be rabbits or snakes or scorpions. little animals like that. Just feels a little quiet."

[Raven]

Raven shrugged. "Small animals are quiet, Amy. Except birds. Things are living all around us." He gestured at a bush and kept going for the cliffs.

[Gifted]

The group of them made their way to the cliffs and started to scale them. Set back deep in the cliffs they started to see the cracks and crevasses that could be used as caves.

As they made it to the very top, the had a chance to look out over the fields of grass and shrubbery. A long ways in the distance, connected only by a single ill-maintained road to any semblance of civilization, a giant walled city loomed on the skyline. The walls were made of brick reinforced by concrete, and a massive, white drawbridge was up to prevent anyone from passing into the city. Even from their great distance, they could see people at the top of the wall working, building the wall ever higher.
Below them, they saw a small band of people making their way towards the city. There were only about a half dozen of them.

[Raven]

Raven tried to make sure that they stuck together and climbed carefully, well aware that his friends were, largely, city folk. Ryan did fairly well, mostly because he was able to cheat, and they made it to the top of the cliff without incident. Ryan raised an eyebrow as they reached the top. "Well. We found civilization."

[Gifted]

"Where are the roads?" Amy said, fidgeting nervously. "Cities don't just cut themselves off like that. They need trade. I see the one, but it looks like it hasn't been touched in years..."

[Raven]

"A group can self-sustain with the right magic," Raven said. He started towards the city. Ryan looked more hesitant.
