Magicka Corrupted

[Gifted]

"All sorts of magic gives off light." Natalia grumbled.
"Is it safe to be standing so close?" Amy asked. "Should we get away from it?"

[Raven]

"We're not close to it," Raven responded, ignoring Natalia. "We're inside of it. And at this point, I think it's more dangerous to try to get away than to stay put."

[Gifted]

"Really?" Amy stepped a bit closer. "I guess that sort of makes sense.... do you think it's safe if I film it? I want to document this." Ever the reporter, Amy was already pulling out her phone.
"Ok even say for a second it was Almighty magic." Natalia said. "So what? What would that even mean?"
"Well, from the myths I've read." Amy said. "Almighty seems to be focused around like... time and space?" Here she glanced at Raven, as if looking for his confirmation. "Big, nebulous, plane of existence stuff."

[Raven]

"I don't see why not, Amy. We probably aren't going to leave the circle at the same place we entered it," Raven said. "Or at the time we would have."
"You realize that's nuts, right?" Ryan asked, sighing.
"Well, it's not arcane or Amy could see through it. And it's not current, or it would give off heat. So you can believe it's soul magic - which you don't think is real, and Amy doesn't think it is anyway. Or."

[Gifted]

Amy shook her head. "It's too dramatic. Too... it's a shining neon sign to anyone nearby. It's be like a black magic user torturing someone in broad daylight, it just wouldn't happen." Amy said. She glanced around. "Plus, I don't see anyone else anymore. So, if we can't leave..." She didn't finish her thought, instead walking straight up to the thing so she was directly in front of it.
"Wait, Amy!" Natalia looked concerned.
Amy examined the bright pentagon with a curious frown on her face. hesitantly, she reached out to touch it, and her hand went straight through. She pulled it back. "It doesn't seem to hurt anything." She called back.

[Raven]

Raven jumped forward when she stuck her hand out, and seemingly had to physically calm himself down when she pulled it back. Then the curiosity tumbled through, "Was there a temperature shift out there? What did it feel like?"

[Gifted]

"No temperature change." Amy said. "The light doesn't give off any heat. Look, come here." She said. She stuck her arm through further. "Maybe it's some kind of... dimensional rift? Is that a thing?"

[Raven]

That wasn't what Raven had been talking about, but he shrugged. "Here, hold onto my arm," he said, and stepped closer to the light.

[Gifted]

Natalia came forward behind Raven. Amy gladly withdrew her hand and came to grab Raven's arm.

[Raven]

Raven stepped through the light. Ryan hung back, looking uncertain about the whole thing.

[Gifted]

As soon as Raven went all the way inside, the whole portal glowed even brighter until even Amy was squinting. It encompassed all of their vision and Amy cried out in pain.

And then suddenly, it dimmed greatly. They were on the other side, with the portal at Ryans back.
Grass and rock moorland seemed to stretch in every direction. Way off in the distance they saw some sheer crevased cliffs and rolling green hills, much further than the park was large. There were no animals, despite this clearly being relatively untamed.

[Raven]

"Shit," Raven breathed once his vision returned to normal, then glanced at Natalia. "Do you believe me now?"
Ryan blinked his eyes and looked around, his eyes wide.

[Gifted]

Natalia was looking around in awe. "What the hell...?"
"This is insane." Amy's whole face was lit up, examining her surroundings eagerly. As the group was taking in the location, suddenly the bright portal behind them retracted its lights and slowly closed itself.

[Raven]

Ryan hardly noticed, looking around the new environment. Raven noticed, but said nothing, beginning to look around their surroundings now as well. "Amy, do you recognize where we are?" He asked

[Gifted]

"No." She said, looking around. "Although it brings to mind last time I was in Afghanistan. It's not all sand and cliffs you know. It's actually quite a pretty country."
"Are you saying we're in Afghanistan?" Natalia asked.
"No." She said quickly. "I'm saying the landscape is similar."
