He frowned. He hadn't exactly been a social person even before being captured, but Katrina was well known throughout the school, so it only took a minute or two to place her. "Katrina?"

Katrina smiled and nodded. "They weren't very gentle, were they?" she asked. "It's causing some burns, which is causing some scarring, which is causing some swelling and pressure, and all of that is what's causing the pain."

"Understatement." He muttered, but that made logical sense to him. It still hurt, but it hurt like he'd used his powers six hours ago, not ten minutes ago. "Thanks." He rubbed his temple and managed to sit up.

"You should lay down for a bit." Viette told him. "We don't know how it will react if you exert yourself too much, it's better to be able to keep watch."
"I'm fine." He grumbled. He'd dealt with this on his own for a while, after all.

He sighed. "It's some sort of power enhancement system. I don't know exactly how it's wired. Lot of head operations, most without anesthetic. It's an amplifier I can't choose not to use, so my power doesn't do 'small' very well anymore. Often lose control over it. More power going through than I wanted. They also said something about 'latent dual ability activation' which is what I presume the fucking visions are about."
