But they send her every scrap of information they learn to her and if she gives a contradictory order they'll take hers over yours. She has the most control and power when the sides are evenly matched, so she tends to favour and subtly help whomever is weaker. Unless you anger her. Then you'll be punished."

Melody nodded. She looked distraught at the very thought. Her voice was even quieter when she spoke. "When you said you were attacking Tanya... I was supposed to report it. Just call her up and let her know. Someone else probably would if I didn't, anyway. But if I did that, Tanya would have mustered the Saints for an ambush. She had to. She wasn't going to let you get away with threatening her home. You would have walked your group of Advocates straight into a trap and over half of you would have died. She would have had Advocates turn on Advocates if she had to to make sure of it. And they've already lost so many friends, I just....after the fire I just.... I couldn't do it to them." She shook her head.
