Melody was touched that he would try, and tried to struggle to find a way to explain without saying too much. "Can't.... not confident. The opposite. I don't.... I can't explain." It could all be for nothing." She winced in pain then. Even that had been a lot of talking.

Ryan nodded. He didn't seem to really understand what she was saying, but he understood talking was painful. "Do you want a place to stay the night?" he asked instead.
