She looked down. "I'm sorry, sir. I didn't mean to speak to you like that." She said through gritted teeth.

"If you don't learn from your mistakes, they will get you killed in this town, Rakel. I've seen it happen many times, to close friends. Making apologies you don't mean won't help anyone, though, so don't bother," Ryan said.

[Gifted]

"I'm not apologizing for not learning and I never said I wasn't, I'm apologizing for being rude."
"Why?" Kurt asked.
That seemed to throw her off a bit. "He's in charge? My mother always says to be respectful to the people with more power than you no matter what. Most people deserve it, and if they don't and you still show it to them you come off looking the better."

[Raven]

"Well, do us all a favor and start showing respect when people earn it. There are some new rules here. You'll get the hang of them," the Devil said.

[Gifted]

"One minute you're berating me for starting a fight when I wasn't trying to, the next you're telling me to be less respectful? Isn't being rude to people how I piss them off and ended up in a fight in the first place?"

[Raven]

"Depends on if you're smart or not," Ryan said. "Being rude and not being respectful aren't necessarily the same thing."

[Gifted]

"If you say so." She put her hands in her pockets. She didn't really get it yet, but she just wanted to get off this topic.

[Raven]

Ryan didn't push the issue. "What Pokemon do you have?" He asked

[Gifted]

"Mostly grass types. I've got five right now, I haven't found a sixth that caught my eye yet. But I'm no great battler or anything, it was just a hobby..."

[Raven]

"It sounds like you're pretty good to me," Ryan said. "And you'll only get better. You should try to make sure you have a defense against anything that can take grass on easily, though."

[Gifted]

Rakel giggled. "Well, I did say mostly grass." She told him. "I have one fire type just to mess with people. My parents gave her to me four years ago. I love breaking her out three pokemon in when people have assumed I'm a one-trick pony."
"You are a one-trick pony." Kurt pointed out.
"My 'one trick' took out three of your pokemon." Rakel pointed out. "I had an appointment with a move tutor that we'd booked and paid for months ago just before I left my old town. I knew I'd be at a huge level disadvantage in any battles I got into and grass is generally a bad typing to specialize in, so I rebuilt all the movesets from the ground up to try to work with my disadvantage."
"Well, it worked pretty well, I'll give you that. It took you two pokemon to do it but you knocked out my strongest, that's pretty impressive."

[Raven]

"And Kurt is no piece of cake to beat, either," Ryan added. "So I'm impressed."

[Gifted]

"Well, I didn't exactly beat him." She said, a bit embarrassed but flattered nonetheless. "But thank you anyway."

[Raven]

"Just don't let it go to your head. Anyway, this is the place up here," Ryan said, indicating a house that was a bit bigger than the other houses on the block, though not considerably.

Rakel though it looked awful, but she thought the whole city looked awful, so she knew better than to say anything. "Is this your place?" She asked.
