Totally in the zone, Monique powered through what was left of the lasagna. "Mm, delicious!" she said. Upon mention of dessert, she beamed. "I always have room for dessert!"

"Well, one dessert, coming right up!"Isobel said, coming out with a pan. "But Kailen, you hardly ate! Why should you get any?" She teased. Kailen knew his mom would never deprive him of dessert, especially when she was holding the pan of freshly made brownies in front of him.

Isobel laughed. "Oh, don't worry dear. I'm just teasing him anyway. You're all welcome to have some brownies." She put the pan on the table.

Though Monique could have probably eaten the entire tray herself, and somewhat wanted to, she constrained herself to only two brownies. "That was awesome, Mrs. Belacqua!"

Isobel smiled and took the tray away so she could prepare a plate. She came out with half a dozen brownies on a saran-wrapped paper plate. "How's this?"
