"Alright, it's a plan," Kenny agreed. After they'd all eaten, he drove them out, letting Hannah pick the movie, and Caroline pick which colors of yarn she wanted. Then he brought them home again, and put on the movie.

"Oh, it's kind of just a roof, so you can be outside without being in the sun. Usually you put tables there so you can eat outside too," Kenny said.

"You can smell it and feel the wind if you're outside," Kenny reasoned. "And you can't spend all your time outside sitting in the sun, you might get too hot or get sunburned."

It had been nearly two weeks since Kenny had carefully and deliberately reeled in excitable Ayane. She integrated with the others quickly, and seemed to have a great gift at coaxing Caroline back out of her shell when something struck a nerve and freaked Caroline out. She told Kenny that her sister was absolutely overjoyed at the present, and that was the last he'd heard of it until today. "Hey, Kenny. Do you think you could come with me to pick up my sister from school today? She really wants to meet you. ”
