Jade blocked with both arms, stopping the blow but not giving her a chance to retaliate.

Kailen put all his strength into ramming her with his shoulder, trying to knock her down, or at least throw her off balance.

Jade was knocked off balance but lashed out violently in return, trying to force Kailen to show a moment of weakness.

Kailen grimaced, raising both arms to block her as he took a step back, losing his temporary advantage. Not wanting to mess up twice and not being a great fighter, he glanced back to make sure Cody wasn't up.

Cody was in fact just about to his feet but in Kailen's moment of distraction Jade threw a blow at his stomach.

All of the air left Kailen's lungs and he felt sick, but he knew he didn't have the automatic advantage here Cody knew that he knew his trick now, and Jade knew his strength. He kept listening, his eyes on Jade, guarding again. He threw a punch at her face, just wanting to get her out of the way as quickly as possible.

It worked: She dodged and drew a card. Cody rushed him with a blade drawn.

That wasn't the kind of out of the way he'd had in mind, but Kailen would take it. He knew now that Jade wouldn't risk Cody, so he'd much rather focus on Cody. He turned around to deliver a blow, and was shocked to see the blade. Things were beyond serious. He'd have to finish the fight soon.

Cody actually hadn't expected that, and fell, dropping the knife. He would not be getting up any time soon. Another card hit the back of Kailens jacket.

Kailen quickly tried to get it off, leaning down so that the card would be closer to Cody, so as to try to avoid detonation.

She didn't shy away from it this time, detonating it anyway. The already crippled Cody was knocked out by the blast.
