"You're not gonna look like a drag queen, oh my god, it's like you don't trust me at all. Now hold still."

Kailen whined, but didn't move. "What are people going to think if they see you doing this?"

"Nobody's going to see, quit being such a pansy. And if somebody asks, we'll say we're acting in a play." It took Stephanie less time to do Kailens makeup than it had hers, because guys needed much less of it. "There we go, you're perfect. Look in a mirror." Kailen also looked older, and it was not at all obvious he was wearing makeup. She'd done his eyebrows so whenever he wasn't actively smiling he looked like something was irritating him.

"You look more serious, yeah, you're supposed too. So do I, don't I? I was trying to go a bit to the opposite extreme since Rick's already met us both and all. It's kind of overcompensating, I know,"

Kailen nodded. "Let's go, shall we?"

"Absolutely. Do you have your fake ID?" Stephanie went through her bag and pulled out the one for this persona. "Let's see... apparently I'm Agent Heather Mclaine."

Kailen pulled out his own, looking at it. "Agent Vincent Peale... But hang on, won't the badges and IDs have changed in thirty years?"

"Well do you have a better plan?" Stephanie sighed.

"Nope. Let's go." He did straight as he walked out and to the government building.
Kenny followed the guy willingly to the cells in the basement, hoping that Joan would really come get him. He didn't want to stay in the cell forever... The thought scared him, though it would be worse to go home.

Stephanie came in as well, back straight and head held high like she owned the place. She cornered a random agent and spoke in a firm and confident tone. "Excse me, I just transferred from the other building, coudl you tell me where I could find Mr. Martinez?" "Rick? Top floor. Last door on the left." "Thank you very much." Stephanie headed confidently to the stairs.

Kailen followed a little bit after her, wondering why they didn't take the elevator. The top floor and she planned to take the stairs? But he kept walking like he knew what he was doing. Once on the stairs, he hurried to catch up. "So do we have any idea at all as to how to fix anything about this?"

"No. for now we just watch I guess. And if you're wondering, elevators announce your presence. They ding when they arrive. That's why I don't like them." Stephanie explained. When they made it to the top, they saw Joan enter the room.
Joan checked herself in, reported her capture and then ascended the elevator to the highest floor of the building. She passed right by the office of the head of the entire government without even looking at it. That man was worthless. His time would come, and soon. She went to see a man who really did have it all figured out. Just like she did. “Rick Martinez.” She called into the dark office. A boy of sixteen flicked the light on. “Joan.” He grinned. “To what do I owe this pleasure?” “Nice to see you too, Rick. Sorry I haven’t come up much recently.” “It’s fine, I’ve been pretty busy. Dummy in the next room’s got a ton of public appearances coming up, some in some pretty hostile places. Since I’m the spin doctor that means just as much work for me than it does for him.” “Well, I may have a gift to ease your workload.” Joan smirked. “I offered my latest catch a chance to join the agency.” “You did?” Rick sounded surprised. “Thought you didn’t want the competition?” “Oh, I don’t. But I don’t think I’ll be the one mentoring him.” She smirked. “His name’s Kenny Clark. He has the power to alter and erase people’s memories with eye contact.” “Oh?” Rick was intrigued. “And he’s shown interest in teaming up with the government.” “You think he’d stick with us though? That’s a good sign but remember, he could be playing you to be released so he can escape.” “He said he came from a broken home, and even here would be better than back there. And I haven’t even got to the best part yet.” Joan enjoyed Rick’s suspense for a few moments, before finally revealing her trump card. “He’s twelve.” “No way, seriously?” “Seriously.” “And he’s not… I dunno, overly mature for his age or something?” “If anything, I think he’s more naïve.” Joan smirked. “So you like him?” If he was so young he could still be molded by careful hands. Rick grinned. “Joan, you are a goddess.” He high fived her. “Bring him up.” “Yes, sir!” Joan headed downstairs. She knew Rick would love Kenny.
