Xander didn't really notice the lightning hadn't knocked out the teleporter, he was focusing on those in front of him. He used his telekinetic ability to try to grab the two agents and throw them into another tree, or at least out from under their cover.

One of the two was knocked out by the impact with a tree, but the other started scrambling when he found himself deposited back on the ground, if rather roughly.
The speedy one tried to get closer, and paused behind him for a split second to aim at Xander's head. Ben was lucky enough to have been turning around at that exact moment. He pushed Xander over and whipped his cable in the agent's direction. The man was out of there before it could catch anything, but it gave him a nasty electrical burn on his chest.

Xander hit the ground but it didn't take long for him to realize what'd happened."Thanks Ben," He said as he pushed himself to his feet and looked around for where that stupid teleporter was now.

Even though it wasn't the teleporter that had nearly killed him, it was the teleporter Xander found next. He was brawling with Ben, and pulled a dirty move, kneeing Ben where he'd been shot. Ben shouted in pain, and just like that the teleporter had two knives to Ben's throat and his knee on Ben's thigh, holding him between him and Xander. "How much are you willing to bet you can shock me without me cutting your neck?" the teleporter asked. Then he spoke louder, to Xander. "I kept hold of her like this too," he called, smirking.

Initially, Xander didn't register what the hell the man was talking about. He was too horror struck by what'd happened. His mind raced through several different plans and dismissed them all immediately. He had no way of controlling how the man fell, and if he fell backwards or sideways, Ben was a goner... He froze. He had no idea what else to do, and it was clear in his eyes that seeing Ben held captive terrified him, horrified him a a thousand more times than when it was his own life on the line. He was a nervous wreck. He couldn't psychologically handle losing another friend. He'd turn himself in if it meant Ben could go free. And it wasn't hard to tell by the look in his eyes.

"Xander don't do anything stupid," Ben ordered, tensing as one of the knives started to press into his neck, drawing a little trail of blood. Damn teleporters to the depths of hell.

Xander visibly flinched when the teleporter drew blood and didn't seem to hear a word Ben said. The wind stopped completely, the air becoming dead still. the sky cleared up to the exact weather it'd been before the fight. "Just let him go." He begged. "Leave Ben out of this, I'm the one you're out here for."

"And why would I give you a fighting chance? Give me a good reason to let him go, Xavier. But don't worry, take your time. We're only dealing with a life here."

Xander hesitated. His mind was going a million miles an hour and coming up with nothing, no way out, no way to fight. Ben was his weakness. He could fight for himself to the bitter end, would fight to the death if he had too, but he could not watch another of his friends die before his eyes. He couldn't do it. It'd kill him. His friends were his weakness. And like Kryptonite to Superman, he couldn't do a thing to stop it once it'd been used against him. He felt the hope being drained from his body as though it were blood from a fatal wound as he thought about it. a gray, lifeless hopelessness was all that was left of where his mind had run dry. His friends were his weakness, and he had no other choice, no options left. He folded his hand. "Don't you want to be known as the one who caught Hangman?" He could't even look up at the man.

"Xander!" Ben objected. "Sht." The man pressed a little harder, making the blood start to flow. He made sure not to press down on Ben's windpipe, it wouldn't do to kill him. "Prove to me I will be. Take off the coat," the teleporter ordered Xander after Ben fell silent.

"I have nothing else I can do for you, Ben." Xander apologized. "And I can't watch another friend die. I just can't. I'm sorry." He sounded like he might cry, but his terrified empty eyes were dry and clear. This coat was symbol for him... he'd stolen it off an unconscious agent shortly after breaking off from Alex's group with Sharie and Adrian. It was the first battle he'd ever won without Alex's guidance. He never took it off, not when he still had to fight. He had it on always because he had to fight the government. A bitter, cruel thought entered his defeated mind: How fitting his last act as a free man would be to take the old thing off. He undid the buttons carefully and threw the coat to the ground in front of him, revealing his knee-high grey pants and white shirt he wore underneath. The clothes were loose enough he could move easily in them, were simple and had no impractical extra pockets or flashy designs. Picked solely for their practicality in fighting.

The teleporter lowered his knives, and Ben tried to punch him, but the man was already behind Xander instead. "Maybe we'll even let you see your girlfriend if you behave. It would be interesting to see if she still reacts to you," he hissed. One arm went around Xander, pressing a knife into his side rather than putting it at his neck. "She doesn't react to anything else I do to her."

Xanders eyes narrowed. He didn't turn around but it was clear in his tone the man had crossed a line. "Don't you say a single word about them."

"She still tries to stay faithful, though I can't say whether that's really for you or not," the teleporter said, a smirk on his face. Ben watched, unable to hear what was going on and debating whether or not it was safe to shock them. He was going to lose his window, but he didn't want to risk Xander's life.

"Leave. Sharie. Out of this." Xander said again, trying to control his anger. Poor Sharie... he wished more than anything he could help her...
