"He doesn't. Hasn't stopped me before. I'm sure not going to a hospital," Ben said. Even though technically it was legal to be a gifted now, it didn't mean he trusted his life in the hands of government employees.

Xander smiled. He stayed for a couple more minutes, but he trusted Ben to keep his word. So he set off in the opposite direction of the other agents path and headed to go find something to eat.

Xander hadn't recognized him until he asked. He laughed. "Because unlike you people, I'm not interested in killing other human beings. You think I like this ever-constant fighting any more than you do? I don't consider a gifteds life more or less valuable than a normals, I'm fighting for equality and I treat you the same way I'd treat another gifted. I want this fighting to stop and if your bosses could get that through their thick skulls then maybe this fighting would stop and we could work something out! I'm sure as hell not going to kill you if I can help it. That is how I've always operated. My goals haven't changed."

"Oh them. Ben killed Sophia and most of the other agents too, I was just with him at the time. Arguing over that is why we're not traveling together anymore, see? The only one I'll admit to killing is the botanist. And him I'm not sorry about. That was revenge for Alex's sake." Xanders voice got cold towards the end. "He's also the only one of those thirty agents whose face I remembered. If there were more of them, there'd be more like him." Then his voice abruptly changed back to normal "But other than that I try not to kill anybody unless I really have o other option. And that doesn't happen a whole lot."
