Jeanne had just woken up minutes before, and was barely dressed. "Just a second, so so sorry I'm late!" she called, running down in a white tanktop and black cargo pants. She grabbed her back, the ring on her left ring finger, and quickly joined Alex. "Sorry, again." Her past had taught her how to sleep for days at a time to keep her awake for days to come, and so she had literally slept the whole time she'd been home.

Now people were paying attention. Some started calling for police wheras others shouted at Ben directly. "Leave those two boys alone!" Josh went pale. He hadn't exactly wanted to see that either and he couldn't blame Ben for stepping in... but dammit they were supposed to be on the down low!

"Were you waiting for someone?" Alex asked, since he hadn't realized himself until an hour ago that he would be going.
Ben kicked the first one. "We'll talk if you don't change." He left.

Jeanne shook her head. "No. I assumed that someone coming to get me meant I was late." She said.

Alex laughed. "Well, don't worry. Josh met a guy in the other world, we found him and we're looking for Joan again."

After a few minutes when everyone was paying more attention to the two boys, Josh and Gabriel rushed to follow him. Joan was outside the bar when Ben caught up to her with a glass of water in her hand. She pushed down the shoulder f her sleeve and it was apparent the fall had done more damage than it had first appeared; There was a bloody scrape on her arm, flecks of dirt still contaminating the wound. She barely even seemed to register the pain and became oblivious to the world around her as she methodically washed the wound and treated it with the tools available to her. Which was pretty much just water and her own shirt, but she managed. Her fae was entirely expressionless, doing her best to hide her pain. But Ben had seen it written all over her arm.

Ben pulled a stolen pill bottle out of his pocket - in the other world, it would be considered over-the-counter pain medication. Whether he'd stolen it because of who he was or because of the stricter rules in this world, it was still unusual for him to come across, and it was even more unusual for him to give the stuff away. He held it in her line of sight.

Joan looked over, realizing he was offering her pain medication. Kindness directly to her where other people could see her was so rare that for a moment it shocked her so much she didn't even find it weird who was standing in front of her. She had, after all, seen ex-rebels before. "Thank you," She said quietly, touched. Then she realized who exactly was standing in front of her and did a double-take. Her eyes widened. He couldn't be a honey-dream, sh hadn't taken any in almost twenty four hours... had she snapped? Or was that really him? "Ben?" She asked, unsure she could truly believe what she was seeing. "Ben Belacqua?"

Ben laughed, despite everything. "What, did you think I was dead or something? You can't honestly believe I won't find you, Joan, just because you run off somewhere." He opened the pill bottle and took her hand, shaking three of the pills into it.

Joan held them so they wouldn't fall onto the ground but otherwise completely ignored them, hugging him tightly. Which she probably wouldn't have done if she was thinking straight, but after all this time, just finding out the old friend she'd thought was gone forever was alive... "If I'dve known you were alive, I'dve looked for you!" She told him. "God, Ben I thought you died long before the war ended!"

Ben hugged her tightly, but he was careful of her shoulder. "I had to drop back for a while to recover, and then Rick..." Ben shook his head. "I couldn't find you after everything was said and done."

Joan nodded. "I took to the streets for a year and hid in the shadows trying not to be arrested. Then Rick pulled his fucking stunt and the search died down. I found myself a place after that, but I was only there for about a year." She neglected to mention that her struggling through that year and trying and failing to forget was what had broken he, and that she'd turned to prisoners honey to escape and been using it ever since. Assuming he hadn't already bee told, he didn't need to know how far she'd fallen. "But how have you been? Are you okay?"

"I'm not exactly in pristine condition anymore," Ben answered. "But other than that I've been good. Hurry up and take those - they take time to take effect."

"Oh," She looked down at the pills and tried to give them back. "It's okay I really don't need them. I've dealt with worse than a scrape or two."

Ben put the bottle away. "Take them," he insisted.
