"It's fine, I doubt she'll tell you and you'll only draw attention." Portia said, but he wasn't about to stop her. He began doing voice excersizes, just to say he was doing something.

Portia didn't ask what had been said. Soon other students began coming in, and eventually class started. Portia nervously played with a pen as the teacher asked for volunteers to go first.

Symphony almost looked like she might raise her hand, but she stayed true to her word and let someone else take the first slot. She was beginning to look anxious and she was fiddling with her shirt sleeve.

Three songs in, Portia noticed. He put a hand on her shoulder delicately. "Hey, don't worry so much. No matter what happens, I promise you we'll ace this thing." He had no doubt they'd get a perfect grade. Grades weren't what he was worried about.

"This is your major, you're a musical genius. I don't think you're capable of a bad grade in this class." Portia replied in a rare bout of good humour. Well, rare nowadays. They'd been common back when she'd known him. the third song ended and he raised his hand to volunteer to go next. There'd been enough people, and he really wanted to get this over with.
