The Academy

"Symphony."

[Gifted]

"Oh Symphony is your sister?" Melody asked, surprised. "Yes, she is in my class. She's an amazing instrumentalist. I'm jealous." Samantha laughed. "I'm really good at studying and understanding music, but creating it is kind of my weak point in that class. I mean I'm okay... I suppose if I weren't they wouldn't have given it to me as my major... but compared to people like symphony I'm nothing to brag about."

[Raven]

"Well, from the bit I heard you sing earlier, you have a nice voice," Trick said.

[Gifted]

Samantha smiled. "Thank you. I try." She smiled. "What's your minor?"

[Neon]

Meanwhile, Snow was in the Theatre class, being molested by helping his elder brother. It was plain to see the relation, and even why they chose the names they did. Snow White was as his name suggested, his long silky hair, and delicate skin pale like frost in the moonlight. His personality was, likewise, very muted and shy, and seeming to hide something deeper beneath the perfect, fragile surface.

Rose Red, on the other hand, had the romantically passionate and fiery personality his name belied. His skin was darker (though not by much) than his counterpart, and his hair, cut closer to his head, was streaked with bright red, as were his eyes. He was the strength of the duo, and, as in the original faerie tale, it was he who led his sibling throughout life, saving him from whatever perceived danger there was lurking about (namely Lucius).

The two certainly looked good together, their differences complementing each other nicely. And (when Rose actually worked with him) they were always in perfect tandem, seemingly as one person cut in two distinct halves.

[Raven]

"Music," Trick said, smiling. "It runs in the family, I guess."

[Gifted]

Melody laughed. "I guess so. My minor is Language. You open up to a whole new world of music when you strt stdying iti other language. Have you ever heard anything in Japanese?"

[Raven]

"Japanese? I haven't... I only speak English and Latin...."

[Gifted]

"Oh wow, you speak Latin? I'm jealous!" Melody said, impressed. "I know four. English, Japanese, simplified Chinese and French. But the Japanese have the best music."

[Raven]

Trick smiled. "Maybe you'll have to teach me, huh?"

[Gifted]

"only if you can teach me Latin." She laughed. "Of course I'll teach you."

[Raven]

"I can try." He was almost regretting telling her. What if she wasn't on their side? "I'm not really very good at teaching things, though."

[Gifted]

"That's okay, I'm a quick learner."

[Raven]

"Alright," Trick said. "We probably ought to be paying attention to the teacher now though."

[Gifted]

"Alright." Melody nodded.

At the end of class she waved goodbye to Trick and immediately searched out the strange boy who'd walked in. She had to hear his song.
