Frederick smiled and nodded. "I'll wait," he said, turning the hoverboard off or onto sleep mode or whatever.
Ryan cursed his luck. The most annoying person he'd met in quite some time (as though he ever met new people), and he felt obligated to try to recruit the girl. "Wait," he called, going after her.

Deborah ran up to her apartment and changed into a pair of clothes that were, if not nicer, then at least somewhat clean. Then she came down again to meet Fredrick.
He caught Kyla almost at the coastline, where she'd been heading to her lab. "Yes?" She asked, turning and looking at him.

"Know anywhere nice to eat around here? I haven't been in the area much," Frederick said with a smile.
Ryan drifted closer. "Me and a friend have an idea, one I think you might be interested in hearing about," he said.

"Not really... I don't eat out much." Deborah answered.
"Oh really?" Kyla said, cocking her head to the side.

Frederick nodded. "Shall we look around, then?" he asked.
Ryan nodded once. "It's not something I'm inclined to talk about where we could be overheard."

"Sure," Deborah said. The only place she could think of was a semi-fancy resturant a few blocks from her home, but it was probably too expensive to eat there, so she didn't suggest it.
Kyla nodded. "There's never anyone on the coast until the middle of summer. Come on." she wasn't going to show him her shop - she would never let anyone but Joanna see it - but she took him to the coast somewhat near the enterance.

When they came to it, Frederick motioned. "This place look good?"
Ryan followed. "I don't suppose you have, but in order to not cover things more than necessary, have you ever heard the word 'rebel'?" he questioned.

"Sure... I mean, if you want. It's a little expensive." Deborah replied.
Kyla looked confused. "No, I can't say I have. And I've heard my fair share of odd words." She was refferring to the concepts in her textbooks... atoms and plate tectonics and other things not taught in classes.

Frederick shrugged. "I get paid well enough, and I don't have much to spend money on normally," he said, leading her inside.
Ryan nodded and smiled. "We think it was used as a noun, a person who stood up against the government." He waited for that to sink in.

Deborah followed him in, almost estatic. She'd never even been in this resturant before, she'd never had the money.
Kyla was surprised. "Like, just people who broke the rules? Like criminals?" She smirked. "Like me?" Secretly, she wondered if Ryan was going to try to arrest her.

"Feel free to get whatever you want," Freddy said, asking for a booth away from the other patrons.
Because the guy who had suggested it, and furthermore had no tattoo was clearly a cop. "No, like people who actually tried to overthrow the government. To put the people in power at the bottom of the food chain," Ryan clarified, his eyes glinting with thinly masked excitement.

((for the record, the tattoo could just be covered with makeup and he could be suggesting it to see if she'd take the bait.))
"Thank you," Deborah said as the server oblidged the request and showed them to a table away from most of the other patrons. Deborah sat down and looked at the menu of foods from her childhood.
Kyla was surprised. "They could do that?"

Frederick sat across from her. "So, how's your hand?" he asked quietly.
"In the past they could. We could today, too, if we got enough support. Me and a friend are going to try. If we can find enough people similar to us, I'm sure we can change something," Ryan said, his voice actually quivering with emotion.

"Fine," She answered, looking at it. She didn't want to worry him too much at her expense, he'd done so much more than she could ever repay him for already. "I'm lucky I didn't lose my whole hand, then I would be out of work."
Change something... it was a crazy prospect. But... but if they really could.... "Then maybe, people would learn things again!" She said quietly.

"If it's only fine compared to what could be worse, that's not exactly fine," Frederick stated. "So, you never really finished talking about your life before your boss showed up."
Ryan smiled. "Or be able to live again," he said softly. (( no one is going to suspect him as a spy. No fucking one. ))
