"We have medical patching the girl up right now, she'll be out here in ten m inutes. Kaitie is using a quickdry solution so that'll be up in five, and a border would interfere with the employees movement, would it not? It'd take an extra three seconds every time, and time is money here!" The boss explained.

Frederick smiled, focusing once again on the goings on. He hoped the day went on without further incident, yet at the same time he hoped he would find a reason to cite them. He merely crossed his arms and watched.

Deborah, her hand tightly bandaged in white cloth and really nothing else, came out ten minutes later and was forced to again work. Fortunately she was better disciplined this time.
At 3'oclock, Kyla finally got out of school. She still had to talk to a few people about a hoverboard that needed tuning up, so she hopped onto her own hoverboard and flew down to talk to them. They lived pretty near the southernmost border.

Frederick functioned mostly on autopilot until the end of the day. He made a quick suggestion about broadening one of the turns on the conveyer belt to lessen the chance of losing things off the edge, thanked the boss, and left, muttering something about having to hurry with the report. In reality he wanted to talk to Deborah again.
Ryan was sure his siblings could take care of themselves and he really wanted some time to think without having to worry about them intruding on his thoughts. He wasn't really paying attention to where he was going, honestly.

Deborah left out the door, wondering how on earth she was going to cut anything for dinner tonight with her hand in these bandages. Her meanger paycheck was not so much she could afford to get out to eat, but if she couldn't prepare her own food...
Kyla finished up her meeting and saw Ryan coming down the road on that old hoverboard. She grinned. This guy clearly didn't have the money for a new hoverboard nor the time to wait a month before recieving his hoverboard back from the government. A prospective customer... maybe? "Hey," She called to him. "How often do you have to take that old thing in?"

Frederick managed to catch her before she'd gone far. "Hey, can I give you a ride home?" he asked her, careful not to bump her hand.
Ryan almost crashed Kyla had startled him so badly. "Never," he answered once he'd regained his balance.

Deborahs eyes lit up. "Oh, would you?" she asked. "I would be ever so grateful... but it's probably too far out of your way. I live near the starbucks border."
"Why not? Too expensive?" Kyla asked. "Come over here, I don't wanna shout across the road." She wasn't really shouting, persay, but they could easily be heard.

"I don't have a place to stay yet, I can get somewhere by there. I don't know where my next job will be, and it's not like we use gasoline anymore," Frederick said smiling. "Come on, hop on." He waited to boot his hoverboard until she was on it as well.
Ryan drifted over to her and shrugged. "If I had the money for as many repairs as this thing would need, I would just get a newer hoverboard," he pointed out. "Doesn't take a genius to figure that one out."

Deborah clumsily got onto the hoverboard. It'd been years since she'd ever gotten onto a hoverboard, back when hoverboards still made noise. "Thank you so much. I don't know how to repay you." she said.
"Not really, not if you bundled them together. Besides, the board stll looks like it works... as well as a board that old could without a tune-up. Course, you'd have to wait a month if you sent it in to the government, and that's even if they tune up boards that old anymore."

"You don't need to," Frederick replied, starting off slow to make sure she could handle it.
Ryan mostly looked irritated at that point. "I've got better things to do than listen to you tell me things I already know, thanks," he snapped.

Deborah was glad he started slowly, but she was getting her balance back. "Thank you, I really appreciate this."
Kyla smirked. "Well, I know this is kind of illegal, but I make my money on the side fixing old hoverboards like that one. How'd you like that old thing to run like the day you bought it again? And it'll only take me a day."

"You're welcome," Frederick replied. "I figured you could use a little help after your day." Once he was sure she was doing alright, he started to get a little faster, though only in small increments, so she didn't lose her balance from simple speed change.
"That would be great, except I'm too old for a card and I don't have the tattoo," Ryan flashed his wrist. "I can't pay you any more than I could or would pay them."

Deborah was riding like a pro in no time. It took about an hour and a half to reach her apartment. "You can stop here," she said.
"...huh. Well that's interesting." Kyla said after a moment. "And HOW, exatly, have you stayed alive?"

Frederick nodded and came to a gentle stop. "You wanna change and come to dinner with me?" he asked, wanting to talk to her about his idea.
"I have my ways," Ryan replied vaguely. "Now will you quit bothering me?"

Deborah was amazed at his generosity. That was everything she was worried about today, taken care of. "Sure... Thank you. Just let me run upstairs and put on some fresh clothes." Like she had some.
"Just trying to be of assistance." She shrugged. "If you change your mind I often meet my clients along the coastline. Later." She speed off on her own hoverboard, though not so fast he couldn't catch up if he wanted.
