"well, not like this, admittedly," she held her hands up, unwrapping the cloth from her left hand and touching her hair. "He usually tries to equal out the lashing because apparently," she paused and said in a mocking tone "It disrupts the data if the subject is cut more in one area because a muscle could give way before the others," she rolled her eyes. "whatever. I did this to my hands on purpose, I caught the whip, but he was counting the number of lashes, so the rest of my body didn't get it as bad as usual, just a couple on my legs and one on my face and three on my back. But my hands sting! I can't believe it!"

"That's... great," Emily said. "So long as you're happy."

Pride smiled and shook her head. "You don't get it. I told you I couldn't feel anything! I proved it to you in your room earlier! now, I canj feel with my hands again!" she ran her fingers through her hair again.

Emily smiled slightly. "That's good... You know what I think?"

[Gifted]

"What do you think?" Pride asked.

[Raven]

"The tops of your nerves have been fried, but inside, you can still feel, because they're intact," Emily said.

Pride nodded. "I think it's somewhat like that. Because you also have to factor in the fact that my bones and skin are stronger. I think... and I think Mr.Sadistic Murderer agrees with me from the way he was muttering to himself... That my skin cells are developing a hard shell around them, like a cell wall in a plant, sort of, but it doesn't conduct electricity so signals cant get to the nerves. When I caught the whip -which I did dileberatley, to test the theory- eventually it slashed off the ceels that developed the protection, but underneath the cells are still normal, so I can feel again," She shrugged. "I don't really care why. I'm just happy I can feel again. Now I'm going to run my hands under water and rinse these cloths, I'm getting blood all over everything," she said, and went ointo the bathroom and turned on the tap.

Emily sat on her bed, almost thoughtfully.

After washing her hands quickly, wincing at the pain, she cleaned out the two cloths and held them over her hands again before going back into Emily's roommuttering about incompetent scientist-doctors who didn't really care about the wounds they were supposed to be healing anyway.

Emily looked up at her. "Are you sure you're okay? It looks pretty bad..."

"I'm fine. honestly, My hands hurt, and I'm okay with that, but I still can't feel any of the other scratches." Jane assured her.

Emily nodded. "If you say so..." She fidgeted with a belt loop uncomfortably.

"really, I'm fine," Pride assured her again.

[Raven]

Emily nodded. "Okay, I believe you," she said. She still didn't look very comfortable.

Jane nodded and looked out the window, not really knowing what to say.
