"I'll go check to make sure she's gone back to the city," Raven said. "I won't leave the cave entirely."

Ryan glanced at Natalia, started to open his mouth to speak, then seemingly thought better of it.
Raven walked silently towards the font of the cave and began to look around outside.

Though there wasn't exactly a community, but they did end up running into people. However, each time they found one or two people crouched in a cave or by a fire, they were extremely reluctant to talk. One couple even screamed when Raven walked into their hideout.
