"What does independant mean?" Amy asked.
"As in, not run by the Kings and Queens? Lady Skye and a bunch of the Dukes and Duchesses went rogue, but all the other cities have been taken back."

Raven rolled his eyes. He'd learned how to pretend to fit into situations he didn't understand by now - evidently, his friends had not.

Amy had been more interested in actually understanding what was going on, but she thought Ryan had gone a bit too far.

"Because it's not possible for you to be here and not know this stuff. What are you playing at? Is this some sort of test?" The man demanded.
Upon taking the time to really look, Raven was able to find occasional rats and small birds and lots of insects, but there definitely seemed to be a lack of animals considering the amount of open wilderness.

Raven moved like a snake when one of the big rats wandered close enough, grabbing it and snapping its neck. The creatures started and moved away from him, but he'd gotten what he wanted. He stood up and headed back to the front of the cave, dropping the rat's body outside. "It's not much, but it seems that you'll probably take what you can get."

The man was highly uncomfortable by this point, anxiously looking between Ryan and Amy. He seemed somewhat shocked when Raven came in with food for him. "I... uh, thanks." He said, but he worried Raven might have poisoned it.
