Rook nodded. "They got slaughtered in front of me. I was tortured for some experiment, and so were they. I don't know what there is to really talk about."

[Raven]

"One day, you might figure out what it is you need to talk about," Kenny said. "But it might take time."

[Gifted]

"I mean if you want details I can give you details." Rook said. "Just ask."

[Raven]

"I don't need details, Rook. I'm giving you the opportunity to talk if you feel you'd like to, in order to heal," Kenny said. "Any time, about anything. My door is open." He stood up and opened the door to go out.

[Gifted]

Rook rolled his eyes and watched Kenny go.

The next day, as Rook predicted, his presence in the hallways was followed by pointed stares and whispers wherever he went. A few people were even tactless enough to go up to him and ask him nosy questions, but a glowing death glare from him generally got them to back off.
He went to his classes but he did not participate unless deliberately called on. In Sangrias class, he sat out of the drills she was running without asking if it was alright.

"Len," Sangria called after it became clear what he was doing.

[Gifted]

Rook glared. He'd never liked it when the teachers referred to him by his real name. "What?"

[Raven]

"Did you not understand the assignment?"

[Gifted]

"I understood perfectly fine." Rook answered. "You're running group combat drills."

[Raven]

"So why aren't you participating?"

[Gifted]

"Because I have no interest in using my power around these people." He said darkly. His glowing eyes narrowed and he turned away from Sangria.

[Raven]

"You've had no problems before," Sangria said.

[Gifted]

He took a deep breath like he was trying to prevent himself from lashing out. "Well, obviously now I do."

[Raven]

"Participation is mandatory, Rook," Sangria said.
