Joan met up with Ryan as the sun began to go down. She was wearing the kinector, despite the fact she probably shouldn't have needed it to look for a base. It was possible there could have been one idea that wasn't accessible without flying - which would be her answer if asked - but there was no reason she couldn't watch that one from the outside when the surrounding area was one of the most important parts.
