Danielle tried to pull back, but she didn't quite make it in time. However, she barely even whimpered at the pain, having taken so very much worse. Jason saw what happened and looked terrified. He turned and ran after Ryan so neither of them were left alone, despite barely being able to breathe.

Ryan slowed down to catch Jason's wrist, though by that point, Ryan was coughing as well. "Awhina, Stephanie-- what's your status?" he asked between coughs.
"We're getting there," Awhina said, glancing at Stephanie with concern, but they had started to make it into clearer air.

"We'll live." Stephanie said weakly. She was leaning on Awhina but they were making much faster progress than before. "You two?"
"We're ok." Jason coughed. "Ryan got shot."

"We should be there in twenty." Xander said, the plane having already taken off with Cassie, Xander and several soldiers inside. "What happened to Danielle after she was shot? She run off?"
"She just kind of winced and watched us run off." Jason answered.

"I don't want to see you two at the landing site for at least an hour." Xander said coldly, despite knowing they both needed medical attention and Ryan was bleeding. "Get out of the smoke but find somewhere else to go to start with."
"What? Dude, we-" Jason burst into a coughing fit. "We don't even... know if... Ryan'll bleed out by then."
Xander ignored him.

"Girls, I'll see you when you get here." Xander released the button allowing him to talk to them and addressed the pilot. "If we see the boys, you are not to land."
"10-4."
Xander sighed and leaned back, staring out the window with a scowl on his face.
