After the failure of the first project, the government's facilities to make and utilize gifted heroes was disbanded. It was never to be touched again. However, desperate times call for desperate measures, and as the threat of one of their old operatives became too much for them to handle on their own, they realized they were quickly running out of viable options. Project Super was once again put into motion, with some very key members the same. The team itself would have to start from scratch, just as the last - though hopefully this team wouldn't go the same way.

Young blonde fifteen year olds don't tend to live alone, particularly not in the rough area of the city that held this tiny, decrepit one bedroom apartment. Yet Stephanie Clark did, and she was fixing her hair in the old dusty mirror when she heard a knock at the door. Ugh. She hated when people showed up unannounced. She never knew what they were expecting of her. If one of the guys she talked to on the street was popping by to chat with her about something, she needed to tie her hair back, put on red lipstick and throw on something black before she answered the door. If it was one of her coworkers, her current outfit of a dark blue long sleeved shirt with a blue green scarf and white pants was probably fine, but she could do with some pink lipgloss. And god help her if it was someone from LA. She peeked through the peephole and saw a man in a suit far too formal for anywhere she worked at the door. She went pale. For all she knew, it could be someone sent by her parents. Best to just pretend she wasn't home... As she stood at the door deliberating, the man in the suit knocked again. "Stephanie Clark!" He called through the door. "FBI, Open up." Definitely her parents, then. She started to back away from the door, when- "It's about your application to be part of Project Super." Stephanie raised her eyebrow. Wait, that was the secret program Mr. Hently had told her about. They had seriously looked at her application? She'd thought because she wasn't officially supposed to know it existed, her application would be ignored. She'd applied anyway, of course, but for only one reason. It was that reason that made Stephanie open the door. "Sorry! I'm Stephanie. Pleasure to meet you. You know, can't be took careful around here." "May I come in?" The FBI agent asked. Stephanie stood back to let the man by. He entered her apartment and shut her door. "Sorry it's not much." Stephanie apologized, because it seemed like the right thing to do. "It's impressive for a fifteen year old too young to legally hold down a job." Stephanie squirmed uncomfortably. "Is that what this is about?" "You knew you were committing a crime by living here on your own, and working under a fake ID. The background check we've done into you shows you aren't unintelligent. And yet you sent in an application with your actual address... why?" "Well it's not like you wouldn't find me anyway, if you really wanted." Stephanie said flippantly. "Then why draw attention to yourself at all? You were doing pretty well at staying under the radar." Stephanie took a deep breath. She knew without anyone giving any indication that if she answered this question correctly, she could have a chance of getting everything she ever dreamed. But if her answer was wrong, she could be taken in by the feds and returned to her parents right here and now. But it wasn't a matter of just reading the situation. "I... well, I'd really like to help people. That's why I ran away." She answered carefully. "I mean, however I can... and well, you are the only ones who can guarantee my parents will never find me." She admitted her selfish motivation the real reason she'd risked everything on a slim chance and sent in that hopeless application. "I can run, and hide, but it won't be enough. But if I had the help of the FBI, I could disappear, I could have a life. I'll do anything to make that happen. If I could have that, and help people, I... well, I had to apply. I'm sorry if it was out of line." He watched her for a moment. "Well, you've been selected." "What? I made it?" Stephanie asked, excited. "That's why I'm here. I've come to take you to our facility. It's all been arranged with your landlady. She graciously agreed to waive your contract when I informed her we wouldn't be pressing charges because you're a minor." Stephanie lit up. "You're serious?!" She jumped up. "Oh my god, absolutely! Yes! Let's go! Just let me pack." She ran into her room and puulled out one of her many suitcases. She was driven to the airport. "We're not driving?" "No, we've already filled our quota for top secret bases in California." "You have a quota?" Stephanie asked. The agent smiled and didn't answer. The pair were brought to a helicopter in a private place on the tarmac, and she got in without asking any questions. Now wasn't the time for questions. They were flown to the base in god knew where. It was a huge building, surrounded by trees and set far back intoa mountain. Stephanie tried to remember her geography, and figure out what forested mountains she could think of in the United States, but she didn't get a chance to ask before they landed. "The scientist assigned to give you the treatment is waiting for you inside." He told her. "He'll have a few questions for you before the process begins most likely. Once you're finished, you and your unit will be placed under the command of one special agent Xander Xavier, he'll introduce you to your ultimate mission and act as your liason between you and those in charge of the project. You're to take is orders." "Yes sir." Stephanie nodded, smiled and entered the high tech building.

The man waiting inside was a bit older than her father, with dirty blonde gelled hair. He wore a white lab coat that he looked quite comfortable in, but beneath it she could clearly see blue jeans and a sweater. A pair of glasses was resting in his pocket rather than on his face, and he held a clip board in one hand. A smile crossed his face as she came in. "You must be Stephanie." He offered a hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Dr. King, or Connor if you prefer."

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. King." She held out a hand for him to shake. "Stephanie Clark, though I guess you knew that already." She laughed lightly.

"Yes, I believe so. This is an FBI Top Secret project codenamed Project Super, which entails selecting five kids aged twelve to seventeen from various candidates all across the country to be given special powers and abilities with some top secret government technology and be sent as a team on missions for the sake of national security. Did I get it mostly right?"

He was one of the older boys in the 'hall', so he was generally able to avoid problems, but every so often, one of them would get it into their heads that he avoided problems because he couldn't handle problems. Today had been one of those days - one of the days he proved them wrong. Ryan Villein didn't like problems, he preferred to keep his head down when he could, but he didn't take anyone's sh*t. One of the newer boys had seen fit to test that today, and Ryan had figuratively taken him out back. In this case, that meant sliding a broom handle through the bathroom door. They'd both come out bloody, but one wasn't going to mess with the other because he didn't like trouble, the other because he knew it was a mistake. Since neither of them would talk, there weren't any official punishments that could be given - had they been younger, things would have been different, but by the time you reached almost 18 in Ryan's city, you learned when to keep your trap shut.
Both boys were scrubbing the bathroom floor when Ryan's officer stepped in, asking Ryan to follow him. The young man was certain that could only mean bad things, but much to his surprise he was led to the visitor room. His first thought when he saw the man in the suit was that he was going to be shot. He obediently took a seat - because he was fairly certain if he'd gotten to this point, he was f*cked no matter what he did. "Mr. Villein, I'm Mr. Smith with the FBI." It wasn't what Ryan was expecting, but it didn't precisely make him less nervous. True, the FBI probably wasn't going to shoot him in a ditch, but he wasn't sure he preferred the idea of an adult prison. He wasn't naive enough to believe boys his age were protected in there. "I'm here with Project Super."
"Project what? That sounds like a line from a movie." Ryan glanced at the door, then back at the agent. "I want to see your ID." Mr. Smith pulled out his badge and handed it over. Ryan checked it all for anything seeming off, anything that could indicate a fake, but it all seemed genuine, so he finally handed it back over. "As I said, I'm here with Project Super. You will be briefed as to what exactly that is at a later point in time, for now, if you would come with-" "So you aren't going to tell me what it is until after I've agreed to help you?" He let out a short chuckle. "Yeah, right. Try John Tims. He's one of the dull ones." Ryan stood up. "Mr. Villein, let me make myself clear. You are not leaving this room until I am done speaking with you. I can either make your life better, or much worse." Ryan knew a threat when he heard one, and moreover, he knew when he heard one that he believed. He sat back down.
"Thank you. You must be somewhat aware of what this project entails, you've heard of it before, though perhaps not by name, and in case you've forgotten, you already agreed to help by submitting an application for the project." Ryan stared. He'd half decided that was a joke or a dream, it felt like it had been ages since he'd submitted it, and he was sure that landing himself in juvie had cut any chances he had - he thought there was a mistake the first time he'd been chosen. That he was one of five in the nation was laughable. But then, he knew how to handle himself better than most. Had he really been chosen? "Arrangements have already been made to move yourself and your sister to the black site. I simply wanted to inform you that you're in. Do you have anything that you need to bring with you?" Ryan shook his head. "Very well, then, come with me, please." The man escorted him out to the car.
They went to pick up Lynn, and then they were driven to a helicopter. Ryan's eyes went a little wide. "We're flying?" "Yes, the base isn't in California." They got in and strapped down, and Ryan's nervousness didn't fade at all as the helicopter took off. However, they finally made it to what he assumed was where they would be living from then on. They were led inside, and they brought them first to Lynn's room, and then to the labs.

"No, I don't have allergies." Stephanie assured the scientist man. "At least not ones I'm aware of."

Connor nodded and made note of it. "For the sake of everyone's sanity, we allow the five selected to choose what power they're given, provided no one chooses the same thing. You're the first one here, but we do suggest you avoid asking for elements, as they are massive abilities, very hard to control and create."
