Xander nodded, gave her a few minor tips, and took his leave.
When it was time to eat, another agent directed them into a room with a cafeteria line and several round tables dotting the room. The food was way better quality than what they got in school.

And probably even better than what Ryan got at juvie. He grinned. "This smells amazing he said, taking plenty of everything. Awhina seemed grateful as well - but Cassie was not surprised. Ryan put all his food down at the table, then looked at Xander, seeming to debate whether to ask the question in front of the others or not.

Jason smiled brightly when he saw the food, but Stephanie hardly seemed surprised either. They both took somewhat reasonable portions of food and sat with their team around the table Xander didn't talk to anyone, just got food and sat down with the teenagers. He didn't acknowledge Ryan looking at him.

Ryan didn't push his luck, leaving his food and going to fetch his sister. Before too long he came back with a wide-eyed eleven year old who got a bit of food and came to sit next to her brother. Lynn's hair was pulled back in a ponytail just like the one Cassie wore. "Hi," she greeted the older kids, smiling.
Cassie was a little surprised they'd allowed another little girl into the facility, even if there was a precedent for it, and she said nothing. Awhina, on the other hand, returned the smile. "Hey," she greeted.
