"Of course, Caroline." He grinned. "Let's get inside."

Caroline nodded and followed Kenny inside. Hannah came after, having never seen Caroline this cheerful before. "It's so open!" Caroline exclaimed as she came in, looking around excitedly. She was thrilled by even the smallest of things, because for once in he back of her mind she wasn't worrying about what would happen when she got home that night. She wouldn't be going home that night. Or ever again. This was her home now.

Kenny chuckled. "Yeah. I'll show you around," he offered. "Hannah, do you want to help?"

"Sure," Hannah agreed. "Oh and Caroline, I have your clothes in a bag in my room, we can grab them while we're in there and move you to the guest room, the beds way more comfortable than my room would be."

Kenny showed the girl around the house, then he made hot chocolate and apple cider.

A little more than a week later, the houses were finished, and Kenny called Abigail again to let her know the good news.

Abigail answered on the second ring. "Kenny! It's been too long."

"Yeah, it has. I'm so sorry I haven't been in contact recently - we had a bit of a crazy moment. I'll tell you all about it when I see you again, but this time, it will be at our Eden. We've finished the houses."

"Sounds perfect." When Kenny drove up, Abigail was not alone. Her Asian friend that Kenny had seen in her memories was standing next to her, covered in so many bows and frilly things in pink and lime green that one could hardly see what she was wearing underneath. She had long dark hair and wore green glasses that matched her outfit, and her bag was styled like an adorable cartoon puppy. She nudged Abigail and whispered something, pointing at Kenny as he drove up. Abigail nodded. "Yes that's him." She smiled. "Hey, Kenny. This is my friend Ayane. I've been telling her about you and she really wants to learn more. We both had the same time off today so I told her she could come meet you. Is that okay?"

"Of course," Kenny said, getting out. He offered a hand to her friend. "It's wonderful to meet you, Ayane. I'm certainly glad to teach you, and show you our home." He met her eyes, curious what she'd been asking Abigail - and what her story was.

Ayane shook his hand. "Nice to finally meet you too!" Ayane was an immigrant who had moved to the states with her parents and little sister Ami when she was eleven years old. Now at nineteen, the same age as Abigail, she'd grown accostomed to the culture, though unlike her little sister Amy she refused to let herself be assimilated by it, instead taking on stereotypes as a sign of pride and laughing at those who judged her harshly for it. She was perpetually cheerful and saw the bright side of even the worst treatment. Intending on becoming a teacher, she'd taken a linguistics class only as a breadth requirement and immediately got to talking to the lonely, scared looking girl she'd sat next too. She and Abigail became fast friends and she'd been the first to notice when Abigail started wearing that pendant to school. Abigail had been absolutely gushing about her time with Kenny, and Ayane was happy to hear. She'd never seen her friend so into anything before, and wondered if Kenny's teachings didn't have some merit. She got as much information as she could out of Abigail, and the more she saw her friends eyes light up when she talked about him, the more interested Ayane became. She wanted to meet the man who had made Abigail so happy, and learn from him just like Abigail had.
