She vaguely remembered it all, but it was very much a blur. She knew he'd helped her, but she couldn't tell the story. "Spectacular." She led him out of her office, pausing only to explain to the secretary that she forgot she'd scheduled a meeting, and she would be back for her meeting at six. Then she headed out for a little cafe down the road. "How do you take your coffee? My treat, of course."

"Uh, black," Kailen answered. Nine years ago he might have known of a better way to have coffee, but nine years ago he also knew what all the popular cigarette brands tasted like. When he had coffee it was usually provided by his work.

"Aw, how boring." Stephanie commented. She ordered a black coffee for him and a latte for herself and sat down with him. Then she finally managed to relax. "So what exactly did you do back there?" She laughed.

Kailen sat across from her and grinned. It was good to hear her laugh. "My power got enhanced, and it allowed me to enter your mind with my own. It was like it turned your mind into a tangible place, with representations of who you are and what had happened to you. I found your old self - the happy, scared girl I knew - locked in the back, and I let her out."

"Not really. It's just pretty underground. It's something I'm good at, and I don't have much in the way of education," Kailen answered. "What do you do other than campaign?" He didn't want to keep talking about himself.

"Normally yes, but it's one of those jobs where the higher you climb the more of your time it takes up, plus I only get more and ore busy once it gets closer to the election. If I lose things'll slow down once the elections over. If I win, things'll slow down 101 days after I've been in office."
