The Academy

[Gifted]

"Oh I don't think so." Ruby said, pressing the knife harder against Tricks cheek. "Beg all you want, Trick. Nobody can hear you." She giggled.

[Raven]

"You can. Please, Cristel, we used to be friends." Tears started to roll down his cheeks, the ones on the left mixing with blood.

[Gifted]

Ruby laughed. He'd actually started to cry! Oh, it felt good to be back. She'd missed this.
And then her arm started to shake. The knife nicked the side of Tricks face completely unintentionally because her arm wouldn't hold still. Her eyes widened and she took a step back. She was looking at Trick without really seeing, pulling her arm back and trying to control its shaking. "You think you can beat me after only a day?" She asked the air. Her head beg to pound and split open, an her hand went up to her face as she tried to subdue the pain. Her legs looked like they were barely holding her weight as she fought with all her far superior strength. For some reson, Cristel was risking death to fight back when there was no way she could win.
But Cristel wasn't trying to win, just buy time. "Leave... him... alone..." She hissed, and she was pleasantly surprised when it actually came out verbally. Trick would be able to hear the dfference; despite being the same voice, Cristel's tone was and had always been much lower than Ruby's.

Trick was confused at first, but he realized something was up. Was it possible that this was Ruby hurting him? He struggled to get free of his bonds.

[Gifted]

Cristel raised the knife again and managed to cut down one coat before the pain overwhelmed her and her legs gave out. "Run, Trick! Run! Get out of here!" She cried. The knife clattered to the ground and Cristel couldn't speak any more.

[Raven]

Trick pulled at the knot around the other wrist and hurried past her, but he glanced back, worried about Cristel despite everything.

This proved to be a bad idea. Cristel lost the battle then, and Ruby's eyes snapped back to life. "You little bitch." She growled, livid. She grabbed her knife from the floor and then saw Trick.

[Raven]

Fear shot across Trick's face and he bolted. He had to find someone to tell about this.

[Gifted]

Ruby did what she would have done at any point when her victim was trying to escape; She threw her knife at him. Unfortunately, while Ruby herself still remembered her skill at throwing knives, her muscle memory did not. Cristel had never gotten the hang of throwing knives and as a result Ruby's grip was slightly off and from the distance she was throwing it was enough to miss Trick entirely.

[Raven]

Trick jumped as the knife barely missed him, but kept running, knowing that Ruby would be after him if he stopped. But who could he tell? If he told the teachers, Cristel would be punished too.

Ruby was worried Trick would tell on her. If he told she could be stuck with these stupid jobs for weeks, and besides she'd never get another shot at him. So she started working to cover up the evidence of her crime. She hung up the two coats and did her best to try to scrub Trick's blood from the floor. She hid the knife behind a ceiling panel and then left the room, going to find those stupid six year olds she was supposed to be watching.

[Raven]

Trick instead went back to his room, shaking and bloody. He was grateful to find his room mate out, and he hopped in the shower to clean off.

[Gifted]

Ruby did her ob, being bubbly and happy and entertaining for the kids in a way that Cristel simply wouldn't have been able too. When she finished, she retrieved her knife from its hiding place and went to class, planning on putting right back where she'd found it in War. The teachers would never even know she'd taken it.

[Raven]

Trick didn't come to class, which was something that just didn't happen in the Academy unless the student were away from school on academy business (which hardly ever happened) or dead (which happened a great deal more than the other reason).

Ruby wondered if Trick had bled out somewhere or otherwise died. She went through the rest of her day cheerily, giving no sign she'd spent the morning sadistically torturing a classmate.
