"You're welcome," Frederick said, mildly amused. "See you around... See if you can talk to some other people about my idea, but please don't put yourself in danger."

"Definately." Deborah agreed. Then she watched him go, and returned upstairs to bed to think.

The man Frederick had mentioned was, in fact, living in the lap of luxury. He sat at a desk, wrists up so that his newest tattoo would dry without any smudges. While the tattoo on his left appeared basically the same as the one on his right - both just a barcode - but they couldn't be more different. The one on his left, a fake stolen from some rich Google guy who lived closer to the west coast, was packed with so much cash he would never run out. The one on his right had never had more on it in his whole lifetime than that same guy got paid in an hour. Likewise, the true owners had similarities and very distinct differences. The man who owned the barcode on the left could probably stop working this very moment and still have enough for his whole family to live comfortably for at least two generations. The man who now wore both never had the chance to work a decent job. As research had proven true, the original owner of the left tattoo, like most others of his status, had been an only child. The thief was one out of eight. One was part of the government, and the other was despised by the same group. In contrast, the criminal mused, they both would do anything to meet their goals, they were both liars, and they both stole. A smile flashed across the man's face and he leaned back in his chair. How morbid that he was so like the men he hated now.

The next morning, Owen had accumulated many more names. He spent the morning listening to his music, until he was able to recite the most often-rememarted part of every song from memory. There was probably a name for it, but he hadn't learned it yert. Then, at around eleven, he decided it was late enough to be a reasonable hour to go talk to Ryan, so he hopped on his hoverboard and headed to nike.
Deborah went to work like usual.
Kyla awoke, having been forced to sleep at home again after her mother finished yelling at her. She snuck out of the house before anyone else awoke, and walked in the pale morning light back to and up the beach with her hoverboard tucked under her arm.

Ryan was sitting just inside the door to his place, while his siblings ran around inside. Kenny was the only one who didn't play, but he didn't bother trying to read, he hadn't been in school that long and he didn't remember much of it.

Owen knocked on the door. "It's Owen," he called. He felt it probably wasn't the best idea to come oin without knocking first. "I've got like, ten or twelve names here you will want to see."

Ryan set the book down and quickly let Owen inside. His siblings didn't look up, except for Kenny who was close enough to hear.

"So I got ahold of some files on people I think we ought to meet. If anyone will be open to our ideas, these people will." Owen said, nodding. He handed Ryan the stack of files. The one on the very top of the stack had a picture of Deborah when she turned 18 in the top left hand corner. The file read as follows:
Name: Deborah Iodite ' Father: Hector Iodite (Google rep.) Finance #: 00001592 ' Mother: Charolette Iodite/Liles (Google rep.) Balance: $350.30 Address: apt. 203, 1240 Kent Ave, Google
Pros: IQ 107 Reliable Compliant Efficent
Pros/cons (+/-): Empathetic Strong conviction Private/Shy
Cons: Genetic predisposition to lung cancer Genetic predisposition to alzheimers Independant
((Yes, I know fail file is fail. I never do as well the second time around. Hush.))

"I don't get it, why would she be on our list?" Ryan asked. He clearly knew nothing about the selection methods.

"All that information is programmed into her barcode. But the last bit, the 'pros and cons bit'? She doesn't know it's on there. You're not supposed to know about it until you actually begin working in a government building. Every child is tested when they're born for predisposition towards certain diseases, meaning they have a slightly higher chance of getting them than normal. People don't know they do that, either. Now, there is a test kids are supposed to take when they are 15. Generally, it's said any government destined kid will pass, anyone not will fail. The test is a sham. whether or not you pass or fail depends entirely on that pro/con section. a "genetically perfect" child will pass, meaning a very, very lucky child raised as a factory worker, on years there aren't enough children, could get bumped up and be the first in their family to hold a government job. But that's really rare. The twelve files here come from the opposite end of the spectrum. They might possibly cost the government money in the long run due to medical expenses, so they're failed. these are twelve people, raised in government families, who not only never got the job they were taught from the time they could walk they were entitled to, but are treated as third-class citizens, worse than even the regular factory workers, because the entire idea is to drive them to suicide. As is the fate of anyone who's con list outweighs their pro list."

Ryan nodded and said nothing, though the look in his eyes clearly stated that this was one more way he hated the government. He flipped to the next file.

They were all simillar to Deborahs. They each had both parents as government representitives, less that $500 in their bank acocunts (since rent alone would be $400+ plus, that's actually like, really poor) and genetic predsposition to one or multiple diseases. One or two had ADHD or autism as opposed to a genetic predisposition to something.

Ryan nodded. "We'll have to figure out where these addresses actually are. We could spend months searching even Starbucks for a specific place," he said.

Owen nodded. "I know there was a way to look that up too... but I'm not too skilled with a computer and didn't have a whole lot of time." he said honestly.

Ryan nodded. "That's fine..." Then he seemed to struggle with something, before he asked quietly, "Would my file be in there?"
