"Read me a story, Ry?" Max asked her brother, yawning. Ryan smiled and picked her up. "Which would you like?" he asked her. "The Goose rhymes," she requested, handing him the book. Ryan opened it and began to read, falling asleep almost as quickly as Max.

Carmen stared with a look of disbelief at what her logical trail had led her too. The dumpster of one of the more expensive eateries in town. It was the scraps of some of the best food in the territory, at absolutely no cost. Logically, she couldn't find a free meal of higher quality anywhere in Starbucks. Logic, however, hadn't accounted for the putrid stench that kept Carmen five paces away with no hope of coming any closer. She blinked, unsure whether she should trust logic or scrounge for money. The scent emanating from the bin was greatly influencing the latter, but a low grumble from Carmen's stomach superseded all her doubts. She inched toward the dumpster, then looked inside. With a hesitant hand, she fished around, until she removed what appeared to be half a loaf of bread. She licked her lip, then nibbled at the loaf, cringed, then proceeded to wolf down what remained. Having finished the entire thing, she fought to keep it held down. "Damn logic. Why can't I just beg?" She moved to one side of the bin then sat, her stomach protesting against her peculiar meal.

It all began when he found that book deep in a cave on the outskirts of McDonalds. It seemed so insignificant at the time. Just a dusty worn hardcover that someone must of left a while back; preserved from the weather outside. It wasn’t until it was opened to page one that it showed anything special, reading ‘Webster’s dictionary’. Words that have long been stricken littered its pages and gave insight to the time it must have been distributed. With the strange text tucked away in his pack with the slipcover of another more ‘legal’ book disguising it; Lark sets out, determined to find whatever other secrets have been hidden from the years past. The first destination, Nike.
(he’s on his way to or in the city, I don’t know what else to put. XD) ((Too much headache to describe him XD I'll do that later MEH!))

Melanie spotted Carmen and pity ate at her. "What are you eating?" she asked, crinkling her nose.
Ryan was carrying Max down the street. They didn't have much to do today, so they were exploring. (( they live in Nike))

Lark scans the street as he walks, watching for any hints that may show him others that know things. He didn't really know what to look for, but he did notice a pair. Some guy carrying a kid.

Ryan paused when he saw Lark. It was too close to their hideout for him to care for.

Carmen, shocked by the voice of a girl she hadn't noticed before, jumped, backing into the corner. "S-scraps....just a little loaf of bread....." Her frightened, nauseous look was caused partly because she'd been spotted by a local, and partly because the bread wasn't settling especially well.

Melanie looked slightly disgusted. "Look, kid, if you're hungry, you can come to my house. That is called trash for a reason," she said.

Carmen, eyes darting every which way, nervously stuttered, "W-well....I suppose...m-maybe just...." She paused suddenly, eyes wide, then held up a finger and turned to the dumpster. With a green face, she leaned over and spewed the molded bread she'd so foolishly eaten. At least it was free. She thought as she stared at the repulsive contents of her stomach, woozy. Turning back around and wiping gunk from the corner of her lip, she mumbled, "Okay, I'll go with you..."

"You better make sure you aren't going to throw up all over my carpets when you get there," Melanie muttered, and started to lead her home, concealing her book in her shirt. It was lucky she hadn't brought a terribly thick one today.

Lark paused once he noticed that Ryan had paused. It appeared to him he was being watched by this stranger, and that worried him more then a little. He keeps a neutral expression to hide the insecurity he felt. What was he supposed to do in a situation like this? Was this even a situation? Probably not, but safety first seemed best best. He glaces around carefully for escape roots in case anything was to happen.

"You aren't from around here, are you?" Ryan asked.

Still nauseous, Carmen teetered behind her, mumbling, "Very funny...." She couldn't help but notice Melanie concealing something in her shirt. What is was, she wasn't sure, but Melanie seemed worried that someone would see it. Carmen thought to inquire, but said nothing.

When she arrived, she stopped outside the front door of what could only be described as a mansion. "Be quiet and don't let my father see you," she said before opening the door.

Carmen, awestruck, nodded as she followed behind Melanie. She had never seen such a massive house in her life. "You live here?" She whispered, more out of disbelief than heeding of Melanie's warning.
