Jane almost laughed out loud relief, but managed to control her expression. Max hadn't seen a body at all. She'd probably walked by a crime scene once without realising it. Unless it hadn't decayed as much when she'd found the other body... Pride pushed that thought out of her mind. "Oh well, I'm sure it's nothing. I hear running water. Shall we go wash the dirt out of your cuts?"

"It'll hurt more for the first couple seconds when you put them in the water, but after that they'll feel better because the dirt won't be irritating them," Pride said as they approached a stream. "i'm going to take a drink upstream a little, because this'll be our only water source up here." Pride walked about a foot, not even, upstream.

Pride knelt down, and cupped the water in her hand, drinking from her hands instead of directly from the stream.

After a moment, Max was pretty sure her hands were clean, and the water was cold, so she took them out. "Jane? What was that smell back there?" she asked. After thinking back, she still couldn't figure out what it was, but it sent chills down her spine. It scared her.

Pride sighed and stood up. "Do you really want to know?" She asked. She really didn't want to tell her, but she would if Max wanted her too.
