Ericken made a rather disturbed face at the sight of the vine. He backed away from the bush, and would have shouted for Vince's attention if the vine hadn't wrapped around his ankle and tripped him.
"Eeek!"
Vince looked up at Erickens' squeal. He ran towards his companion and tried to free him from the vine using his pocketknife.

The vine tries to pull Ericken closer and snakes more vines out towards them. However as soon as the vine is cut by the blade a squealing is heard and it quickly releases and withdraws. The other vines bunch up around the cut vine and make a rattling sound with their thorns.

Ericken scrambled up the moment it let go of him, clutching Vince for support.
"Killer fauna, killer flora... what next, rocks from the sky?" Ericken glanced up, hoping he hadn't jinxed himself. Vince sighed, and the two followed the path, not knowing any other way to go.

The vines continue rattling and slowly follow them until they are out of range. Up a head is a cliff that over looks the ocean. To the left is the jungle, to the right is a rock face.
Squawking is heard at a short distance away, in a grove of trees.
-Despite the pollen in the air, Epocheia has a high oxygen saturation from the over sized plants. This helps people to have more energy.-

"Oh, great, the ocean!" Vince moaned. Before he could go on, Ericken's hand was slapped over his mouth, holding it closed.
". . . Sparrow?" Ericken called. Vince glared at Ericken, pried his mouth free, and began mumbling about how he hated being lost.

After a few seconds there is a reply.
“Ericken? Is that you?” the voice is that of Sparrow.
It sounds like it’s a distance away in the grove of trees.
“You guys okay?” Steve calls over next.
The squawking is heard again.
“Gosh these parrots are loud.” Sparrow says after a second.

Ericken ran towards the trees, Vince following only to make sure he wasn't eaten by a rock.
"Yeah, it's me and Vincent!" Ericken called back. He looked around, trying to determine where their voices were coming from.

“Yay, you’re alive!” Sparrow says happily.
“Hey, we’re up here.” Steve calls down to them.
They’re both up about 25ft up in a tree. Steve is standing on a branch surveying the surroundings. Sparrow is sitting on the same branch waving to them.
“We followed the river and ended up here. Are you alright?” Sparrow calls down to them. All around the surrounding trees are parrots of various size and color making squawks.

The two looked up to see Sparrow and Steve.
"What are you doing in a tree?" Ericken asked, puzzled.
"We're all right, more or less," Vince replied, "Almost eaten by a dinosaur, almost devoured by a bush, almost carried away by water... but we're all right."

“Good then it was relatively safe.” Sparrow chimes happily.
“It’s safer to move around by tree then it is to walk around down there.” Steve explains.
Steve looks around at the surroundings, scanning for anything threatening.
“Plus using the trees lets you get to places you normally can’t get too.” Sparrow says.

"Oh," Ericken replied. He laid down on the ground, and exhaled. "How far away are we from civilization?"
Vince folded his arms. He wasn't about to become a monkey just to fall more than he would on the ground.

Steve turns and looks off into the distance.
“Eon is that way.” he says quickly pointing in the direction.
Sparrow nods and hops to lower branches until she reaches the ground.
“To Eon then. Mental note. Make auto breaks for the transports.” she says quickly.
Steve keeps a look out in the tree.

"Yes!" Ericken jumped up. "I'm so hungry I could eat a cow."
Vince glanced at Ericken. "The expression is, eat a horse."
Ericken shook his head. "I mean a cow. Hamburger beats horse any day."

Sparrow laughs at the comment before walking off in the indicated direction.
After several minutes Steve whistles, causing Sparrow to dart a look around. She quickly hides behind a bush and waves for Ericken and Vince to hide.

The two nodded in response. Ericken dived into Sparrow's bush, while Vince hid in his own flowering bush. Ericken peeked out from the leaves, trying to see what was happening.
